Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

All healthcare settings, including care and residential homes, are legally required to implement the Code of Practice established under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The Code of Practice outlines standards designed to protect patients and residents from infection.

We have policies and procedures to provide information and guidance on general infection prevention and control (IPC) principles to be used in combination with advice and guidance on managing specific infections and specific cleaning methods throughout the home.  Each care home employee will also be required to complete infection control training for further guidance.

Preventing and reducing the transmission of infectious diseases is essential to ensuring people stay healthy. People who have contact with social care should have confidence in the cleanliness and hygiene of services and services provided.

We are working within the government guidelines to help protect our staff and clients.

We monitor, complete quality assurance audits, have a nominated IPC lead and always ensure there is free available PPE.

Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

Contact with relatives and friends is fundamental to care home residents’ health and wellbeing. The right to private and family life is a human right protected in law (Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights). It is important risk is balanced.

Even during outbreaks, as a minimum, one visitor at a time should always be able to visit each resident inside a care home. This number can be flexible in case the visitor requires accompaniment (for example if they require support, or for a parent accompanying a child).

There should be a clear decision on when the outbreak is over and when additional infection control measures are no longer needed. Other professionals, such as health protection teams or outbreak management teams may be involved in this decision.

Families requiring information can contact us via our Benslow website, or directly to the manager and/or admin direct email or the general information address [email protected]
