Anita Astle MBE is Registered Manager at Wren Hall Nursing Home.
Anita a Registered General Nurse who specialised in burns and plastics surgery and intensive care nursing before leaving the NHS has been in post since Wren Hall opened in 1989 and, accoding to her, has loved every second of it!
Passionate about high quality personalised care, Anita has worked collaboratively and strategically to raise the standards in care homes across Nottinghamshire.
Anita is currently working towards gaining a Masters with Nottingham Trent University and has a real passion for quality care, workforce development and improving dementia care.
Anita was awarded the MBE in the New Year’s Honours list 2014 for 'services to older people.'
Wren Hall is an outstanding care home based in Selston, Nottingham. Opening in November 1989, it was family owned by Doctor and Mrs Kesari and their daughter Ms Anita Astle MBE. In April 2025, Wren Hall was purchased by Patrick and Lucy Atkinson (Owners of the Church Farm Care group).
Team Wren Hall prides itself on providing professional, continuing care in a homely, safe and friendly environment.
Day to day leadership is given by Registered Manager, Anita Astle MBE. She works "hands-on" acting as role model team leader, mentor and friend. Consisting of 114 people, Team Wren Hall is dedicated to providing the highest quality of nursing care, twenty four hours per day, to all family members (residents).
Wren Hall is equipped with modern up-to-date facilities in accordance with the Care Quality Commission's guidelines. Team Wren Hall is nurse-led and supports a community of fifty-four family members many of whom have complex care needs. The majority are elderly and frail, whilst others maybe physically or mentally disabled, all of whom require nursing care.

Our Building and Facilities |

Wren Hall Nursing Home was purpose-built accommodation in 1989. It is a brick built building with tile pitched roof. We offer a range of bedrooms offering 7 twin rooms, 4 single rooms with washbasins, 13 single en-suite rooms and 24 ensuite shower bedrooms. Extensions to improve our facilities were added in 1996 and 2010. In 2021, we added a sun-room to our beautiful garden and in 2023 we added our purpose built day-center. Wren Hall is equipped with modern up-to-date facilities such as specialist assisted baths and ceiling tracking hoists. We have 5 lounges, all with direct access to the outdoors. Three lounges have direct access to our gardens. Our garden offers a church, themed cabins (a pub, inter-generational classroom and a tearoom). We have an accessible chicken run where we have a variety of chickens and runner ducks; an aviary with budgies and quail and a pod with BBQ feature. There are raised beds for gardening as well as mature gardens to be enjoyed. Benches and comfortable seating offer places to sit and enjoy this wonderful outdoor feature. Wren Hall prides itself on using renewable energy. We have a Ground Source Heat Pump and a well and water filtration system. |

Every member of Team Wren Hall has the responsibility of supporting our wonderful ladies and gents with activities which they enjoy and find meaningful. These can range from gardening, sweeping leaves, collecting eggs from our hens, baking, washing pots, flower arranging and much more. We have a Well-being Coordinator who supports our plans well-being team to host social activities for our Family members throughout each week. A selection of daily newspapers are delivered to Wren Hall for the use of all Family members. Should you require your own personal newspaper or a magazine the Home can make arrangements for them to be delivered. You will then be billed directly by the Newsagents. |
