Ray Arnold is Home Manager at The Bridles Care Home.
I joined the Bupa family in early 2024. I’m proud to be the Home Manager here at The Bridles, and I’m really looking forward to getting the home up and running and getting to know people in the local community.
I began as a night care assistant, completed my NVQs, and progressed through senior care, head of care, deputy manager and eventually home manager. Over the years, I’ve managed a variety of homes — from small independents to more complex services needing significant change — and I’ve commissioned five new homes before joining Bupa.
What I love most about working in care is the difference we can make every single day. It’s often the small moments that mean the most. Every resident brings a lifetime of stories, and it’s a privilege to be part of that. Teamwork is at the heart of everything we do, and with almost 20 years in the sector, I bring a wide range of experience (and plenty of lessons learned) to my role.
OPENING MAY 2026
Located in Wincanton, The Bridles offers residential, nursing and dementia care, available for both permanent and short stays.
With superior levels of design and finish throughout, The Bridles has been created entirely around resident wellbeing. Wide, welcoming communal areas, elegant lounges, quiet reading spaces, and a snug all contribute to a warm and sociable atmosphere. Smart technology is built discreetly into the home, with sensors that help monitor changes in residents movement.
Each of the 72 beautifully furnished en suite bedrooms includes an accessible wet room and has been designed to meet a variety of care needs with style and comfort. Their vibrant, modern restaurants will serve nutritious, freshly prepared meals, while a dedicated hair and beauty salon provides a relaxing retreat for pampering, grooming or simply enjoying some quiet time. Throughout the home, residents can unwind in the library, watch a film in the cinema or join activities in communal lounges, or enjoy time in the fully accessible landscaped garden.
Great care at The Bridles is rooted in kindness, respect, and real relationships. The care team is selected for empathy and compassion, ensuring residents feel valued and supported each day. Combined with the home’s thoughtful design, modern facilities and warm environment, it's the people who help make The Bridles a reassuring and inspiring place to live.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
