Meet The Manager

Karen Bell is Care Home Manager at Benarty View.

Karen commenced her career in nursing back in 1989. She has now worked in the care sector for some 30 years. Karen joined Benarty in 2019, transferring from a sister care home. She works tirelessly to ensure that Benarty delivers the best care experience for our residents, and the residents truly are at the heart of everything we do. Karen has strong and effective leadership skills and she is immensely proud of the Benarty View team. Our recent Care Inspectorate report reflects the care and kindness we deliver to our residents on a daily basis.

Benarty View Care Home is nestled in a small, former mining village that fosters a genuine sense of community, contributing to the home's warm, welcoming, and homely atmosphere. Conveniently located near local shops, amenities, and public transport links, Benarty View supports residents in maintaining their independence. The nearby M90 motorway offers easy access to Edinburgh, making cultural outings and family visits straightforward and enjoyable.

The home provides high-quality residential care for individuals who require support with daily living, as well as care for those living with dementia. Both long-term and short-term respite care options are available, ensuring flexible support tailored to individual needs. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, Benarty View offers peaceful outdoor spaces where residents can relax and enjoy nature at their leisure. The experienced and compassionate care team is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment where every resident feels at home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Another way we can help our residents to feel at home is for them to do familiar things. So our dedicated Activities Leaders gently encourage residents to carry on doing things they enjoy. If someone had a hobby or pastime they did before they arrived, we’ll encourage them to continue it with us. Or perhaps they may like to learn something new.

The important thing is that we treat every resident as an individual. If they enjoy sharing time with others, either in our home or on an organised trip out, they’re most welcome. Or, if they prefer quiet time alone, we’ll respect that too.
