Meet The Manager

Bernadette Lewis is Manager at Arkwright House Care Home.

Having worked as a Care Assistant, I quickly realized my true passion for this profession and grasped the opportunity to be trained as a Senior Care Assistant. The challenges of training and the immense satisfaction of upskilling my colleagues motivated me to take on additional responsibilities, such as being the Moving and Handling coordinator, trainer in Dementia Awareness, and Infection Control Lead.

In 2011, after completing my NVQ Level 5 Health Care Management qualification, I was privileged to assume the role of Arkwright's unit manager. For over 11 years, I have had the honor of loving and caring for the residents at Arkwright House.

I hope you find the same joy and fulfillment that I have experienced in my journey here. Our dedicated team is committed to providing the highest standard of care, and we look forward to creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

Activities Are So Important

The home runs a weekly programme of events, which includes talks and demonstrations from local people willing to share their knowledge and talents.

Performers from the area regularly visit and entertain residents with songs, sketches, singing and dancing, and members of neighbourhood groups, volunteers and other locals often drop in for a cup of tea and a chat. We organise a varied year round programme of things to do and with residents take pleasure in hobbies including baking, writing, gardening, dancing, painting, quizzes and playing chess.Simple daily pleasures are hugely important such as the morning walk, feeding the birds, light weeding, baking, laying the dining table, arranging flowers or distributing the post.

We also respect that our residents value having some time alone too and we want these moments to be as joyful as any other
