Bob Fenwick is Home Manager at Angusfield Care Home.
Angusfield House Care Home is a welcoming and well-established care facility located in the desirable West End of Aberdeen, within easy reach of local shops, public transport, and less than two miles from the city centre. It is also situated just half a mile from the scenic Hazlehead Park, offering residents the benefit of both convenience and natural surroundings.
Housed in an attractive converted building with a purpose-built extension, Angusfield House provides high-quality nursing, dementia, and palliative care. The home offers comfortable single occupancy rooms, with some large enough to accommodate shared living if preferred.
Residents enjoy access to a variety of communal areas, including bright TV lounges, a peaceful sitting room, and dedicated dining spaces designed to encourage social interaction during mealtimes. Freshly prepared, traditional home-cooked meals are served daily, with menus offering a variety of options and special dietary requirements catered for.
Angusfield House promotes an engaging and active lifestyle, with a wide range of activities available to support residents’ wellbeing. Additional services such as chiropody, dental care, and regular visits from a professional hair stylist are also provided to ensure comfort and convenience.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |
---|
Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Whether you’re entertaining your family and friends, spending time with other residents or taking part in activities, our living rooms are ideal. It’s always up to you whether you want to get involved with activities – you’re more than welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. There are three communal lounges in the home, including a quiet lounge, perfect for relaxing with visitors or having some peace and quiet. We are surrounded by well-maintained gardens here at Angusfield House, including a recent expansion to our dementia unit’s garden. We have a seated potting shed area for those residents keen to exercise their green fingers and a washing line for those wanting to carry out some of life’s daily tasks. |

Description |

All our rooms have recently been refurbished to the highest specifications with new furniture, soft furnishings and fittings. We have designed the rooms with your comfort in mind. Your bedroom furniture consists of: a bed appropriate to your needs, wardrobe, bedside table with lockable drawer, armchair and other furniture suitable to the size of the room. Your bed linen and towels are provided by the home. The majority of our rooms are en-suite and there are bath and shower rooms on each floor for residents to use with or without assistance. We understand that moving into Angusfield House will be a considerable transition, but one we try to make feel as easy as possible. Your room is your own personal space, which is why we encourage you to personalise it if you like, by hanging your favourite pictures or bringing small pieces of furniture. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
A willingness to get involved and try new things is something we see time and again, once people are given the opportunity. We have a dedicated Recreation and Activities Coordinator who oversees everything, but all our staff regularly brainstorm new ideas, too. And our residents and their relatives can make suggestions at our regular activity meetings, so we can be sure everyone’s looking forward to something, every day. Activities are person-centred, so rather than stick to a strict programme, we vary them every week: from music and movement, to therapy pets and skittles. And everything’s flexible – if it’s sunny we try and get outside, so everyone can appreciate the best of the day. We’ve built excellent links to the community, allowing residents to continue their lives outside the home with ease. We have our own minibus which is used extensively to take residents out on trips. We’re also visited by musicians and community groups on a regular basis. Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents. |
