Ula Jakoniuk is Home Manager at Goodwins Hall Care Home.

Ula started at Goodwins Hall in 2012 as a Registered Nurse before taking on the position of Clinical Care Manager. Over the last 9 years she has worked and supported both of the Athena Care Homes in Kings Lynn, developing her true passion of caring for people on end-of-life and palliative care. In her free time Ula likes reading books and listening to music.

Just adjacent to our reception is our comfortable Sun lounge. Over looking the Fountain with comfortable seating , the Sunlounge makes a cosy quiet room to enjoy a visit with family or friends, while enjoying a coffee from our bean to cup coffee machine located just across the hall.

The Pod

Our purpose built COVID secure Pod.

For those who are not yet vaccinated or unable to wear PPE. Set within the Library the Pod is accessed via the garden for the visitor. While your loved one remains shielded behind the screen, comfortable and warm all year round.

The Gazebo

Situated in the Garden our Permanent heated Gazebo, offers a great place to take in the fresh air and spend some time with your relatives. Comfortable rattan style seating and weather resistant sides keep you feeling comfortable. The overhead heating lamp provides that bit of warmth on those days when there is a nip in the air. Giving us three seasons of use with this space.

Lynda has a great passion for working with older people and their families. Holding a BSc with first class honours in Nursing and an MSc in Advanced Practice, she is also a qualified supplementary and independent prescriber.

Lynda has been working with Athena since December 2016 and has many years of experience working with older people in both NHS and care settings. Previously our Clinical Care Manager and later Care Home Manager at our Aria Court care home in March, Cambridgeshire, Lynda is now our Director of Quality and Compliance. Lynda explains that her passion and inspiration for the care and support of older people came from her nursing career.

Regional Manager

Adrienne qualified as a nurse in what she describes as ‘the days of frilly hats and buckles’! For several years she worked on elderly wards before taking time away from nursing to bring up her family and work in a primary school, before returning to nursing in care homes nearly thirty years ago.

Adrienne has never looked back and believes that care and compassion should be at the heart of all we do. She says that ‘there is something very special about being entrusted to care for an older person and we can learn so much from them’. Outside of work loves to spend her time with her many grandchildren and enjoys walking, reading and renovating her very old townhouse.

Anton started at Goodwins Hall in October 2020. He started his career in fine dining restaurants and country house hotels as a Chef, moving into catering management. At Goodwins Anton oversees the Catering, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Activities departments, he is also the point of contact for new Enquiries.

Sam started at Goodwins Hall as a college volunteer placement in 2017. Soon after she started working in the kitchen as a kitchen assistant, which she did for about 18 months before finally moving on to Reception. Along with her usual reception duties, Sam helps to organise visits for relatives, and is responsible for inducting new employees.

Tania has been working in administration and finance roles for almost 30 years. Most of her working life has been in shopping centre management, both in the UK and South Africa. Before joining Athena she spent 5 years running a dog care business and enjoyed lots of fun and cuddles.

Nursing Unit Manager

Aysel has worked at Goodwins since 2015. After moving from Bulgaria she started working as a carer, whilst waiting for her Nursing PIN number. She says that gave her the opportunity to get to know the residents better. After a year, she became a registered nurse at Goodwins Hall and is now the Unit Manager for the Nursing community. She says she loves her job and looking after our lovely residents.

Residential Community Manager

Nicky has been working at Goodwins Hall for 7 years. She is currently community lead for our residential community, where she works alongside a great team of carers and team leaders. She ensures that the residents get the person-centred care they require. To achieve this she ensures their care plans are tailored to each of our residents, their medications are maintained and that all staff are aware of their needs and trained to a high standard to take care of the each day.

Activities Are So Important

Goodwins Hall prides itself on a daily programme of activities that provide a variety of entertainment for our residents that help aid their mind, body and soul. The residents love to engage and interact with all of our activities, including quizzes, games, pub sessions, arts and crafts, alcohol tasting, cooking, baking and more. One to one activities are on offer too, and we also schedule regular visits, calls or video chats for friends and relatives that are far away.
