Julie Allen is General Manager at Crossley House.
I came to Crossley House in May 2015 as a Senior Carer and was promoted to Principle (Unit manager) in December 2015; at this time Crossley was owned and run by Hadrian Healthcare. When Bupa took over in 2016, I had fallen in love with the home, its residents and the team and made the decision to stay under the new management. I remained as Unit Manager title from Bupa and was later promoted to Deputy Manager in 2018. In September 2024 I was asked to complete a 3month secondment as Home Manager and was then offered the post permanently in November 2024
Crossley House is my home, and the residents and team are family, and I cannot see myself anywhere else. I put everything I have into ensuring my residents receive a high level of care and that from the moment they arrive they feel safe, welcome, cared for, recognised, heard, part of the Crossley family and above all else recognised for the person they are/have been.
Crossley House warmly welcomes anyone in need of residential care, including those living with dementia, Huntington’s or Parkinson's. Located close to the village of Thornton, the home boasts excellent accommodation and facilities including pleasant and spacious interiors, private gardens, a hairdressing and beauty salon plus a shop and excellent social areas with a residents bar and dining bistros. All bedrooms come with en-suite facilities and premier rooms are also available for those looking for a larger living space.Meal times are an important part of the day at Crossley. Residents can enjoy delicious home-cooked food with the company of others in the pleasant dining room or in private. Every month, there are themed meals for a bit of extra fun. The home plans plenty of favourites into the menus, but also talks to each resident on arrival about likes and dislikes, and any special dietary needs. All dietary preferences and requirements are discussed regularly. Out of hours snacks and refreshments are also available from the Bupa night bite menu. Activity areas support personal interests and a healthy daily lifestyle, while carers are available throughout the day and night. Regular activities include exercise classes, crafts, quizzes and games, cooking and painting.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
