Meet The Manager

Sam Smith / Kirsty Fuller is Registered Managers at Burscough Manor.

As the Home Managers at Burscough Manor, We bring a positive and passionate approach to everything that we do. We are a team that truly strives for the best outcomes—not just for our residents, but for the staff too. We believe that a positive attitude can really shape the atmosphere of a home, so we do our best to lead with optimism every day. We operate an open-door policy and always aim to be approachable, working closely alongside our team to build a supportive, collaborative environment.

What we love most about our role as joint Registered Care Managers is the opportunity to shape a vision for Burscough Manor that focuses on continuous improvement and achieving the best possible outcomes for each individual resident. A huge part of our role is working with multi-disciplinary teams and building strong professional relationships.

Located in the peaceful village of Burscough near Ormskirk, Burscough Manor is a purpose-built care home providing high-quality residential care, residential dementia support, and specialist nursing care for individuals with complex needs. Designed with both comfort and safety in mind, the home offers a welcoming environment where every detail reflects a commitment to dignity, independence and well-being.

Burscough Manor features 80 generously sized en-suite bedrooms, each tastefully decorated and designed to offer residents both privacy and relaxation. The layout of the home combines contemporary styling with practical features that enhance daily living, supported by advanced care technology and thoughtful design choices.

A highly skilled care team is on hand 24 hours a day, delivering personalised support tailored to each individual’s preferences, routines and medical needs. Their experience and compassionate approach ensure that residents receive not only professional assistance but also genuine warmth and companionship.

Dining at Burscough Manor is an integral part of daily life. Residents enjoy freshly prepared meals, with a menu that changes daily to reflect seasonal produce and varied tastes. Every effort is made to accommodate dietary requirements, and mealtimes are treated as both a social and sensory experience.

Well-being is promoted through a dynamic programme of activities that encourage physical, emotional and cognitive engagement. From arts and crafts to music sessions, reminiscence therapy and gentle exercise, there is always something to stimulate interest and bring joy. Residents are also supported to continue hobbies they love or explore new ones.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Sandstone Care Group are working closely with Public Health, Local Authorities, and the Care Quality Commission to implement all guidelines regarding the coronavirus and infection control. With the support from both directors and senior management, our dedicated home managers ensure best practice is followed throughout each home and by every member of staff.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

We are dedicated to making our residents' home a happy, vibrant and fun place to live!

Our Activities & Wellbeing team provide residents with a varied and engaging programme that inspires communication, social interaction, movement, reminiscence and more.

From musical sing-alongs, daily exercise, arts & crafts, knit & natter and intergenerational sessions with our twinned nursery, there's always something to look forward to.

We also offer smaller excursions to the parks, shops or local markets which add a healthy amount of variety to residents’ day-to-day life.
