You won’t find our unique staff structure in other Oxfordshire care homes. Home Manager Michelle is part of a leadership hub that oversees the work with our Homemakers and nurses.

Working alongside the Home Manager is our Clinical Lead, Business Administrator, Community Relations Lead and Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach. In their dedicated areas, each person ensures the smooth-running of the home.

We believe that investing in people is vital, so our team are given training throughout their employment. You’ll find that our staff training is of the highest industry standard, in particular for our nurses.

They must complete the Queen's Nursing Institute transition to Care Home Nursing during their induction.

We are the only care home in Oxford and the only UK care group to insist that our nursing staff undertake this training on their arrival to our company.

It begins before moving in day, as our team take time and care to discover everything they need to know from new residents and their families.

At Hamberley Care Homes, we’ve reimagined the traditional role of a carer, so our residents will experience a holistic care approach like no other.

You won’t find another care home in Oxford offering ‘The Homemakers of Hamberley’ – care professionals who are a carer, housekeeper and companion all in one person.

Our Homemakers work in collaboration with the clinical team, so they understand the needs of each resident and can provide a continuity of care.

Homemakers are also companions - somebody to share a cup of tea with, who’ll join you for activities or simply sit quietly with you.

Housekeeping is also an essential aspect of the Homemakers’ work. They’ll be there to ensure rooms are tidy and maintained, not just during scheduled cleans but all the time. 

Homemakers encourage and support residents in their chosen lifestyles. We want to ensure residents can get out into the local community, no matter what their mobility challenges may be.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Dining & nutrition

Well balanced and wholesome meals made with fresh and locally sourced ingredients by our resident chefs.

Variety is the spice of life and our resident chef ensures that we serve a wide range of meals catering for every taste and diet. Our carefully planned menus offer well balanced wholesome meals, where traditional dishes feature alongside international cuisine and include varied seasonal options, every day of the week.

There’s no ‘rolling menu’ and we offer new options each week according to the likes, needs and wishes of our residents. We always use fresh ingredients in our dishes, including quality meat from a locally sourced butcher and have a wide range of homemade desserts on offer.

There are no restrictions on what and when our residents can eat – meals and refreshments are available throughout the day. A light supper menu will also be available for those who prefer to retire later, or wake hungry during the night. If a resident has any specific dietary requirements or need any nutritional advice one of our team is always on hand to help.

Home-like dining 

We know that being able to sit down together with friends and family to enjoy a nutritious homecooked meal is the foundation of a happy and vibrant home life. So that’s why our team members are committed to making every meal time an enjoyable experience for all our residents.  Friends and family are welcome to join and dine with us for a small extra charge.

We regularly adapt our menus to suit food preferences and changing nutritional requirements. As part of our personalised care package we work together with our residents and/or their families, for nutritional profiling and meal planning to ensure they are always well-hydrated and well-nourished. If it is agreed between our residents and their loved ones, our electronic care plans can also give instant updates on what food and drink has been consumed.

Many of our team are ‘Foodies’ with a real passion for cooking so there’s always opportunities for the residents to be involved in the preparation of meals if they wish to do so. Our homes regularly hold pop-up restaurant nights, speciality cuisine events and cookery masterclasses, which can be enjoyed by residents and families alike.

Our designated Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach ensures that we create a nurturing and stimulating environment for everyone.

Our personalised approach to care means that we cater for all of our residents’ unique needs, providing as little or as much support as they require.

Happiness and harmony are at the heart of our home life and we have a designated Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach to ensure that we create a nurturing and stimulating environment for everyone, residents and staff alike.

We advocate activities that promote physical and mental wellbeing but we don’t believe in waiting for an Activities Coordinator to organise them. Our team members have a collective responsibility to support our residents to continue with their hobbies or pursue new leisure activities, when they want to and not as part of a set timetable.

We provide a combination of fun and therapeutic activities that help our residents to be more physically active, mentally stimulated and socially connected. Working together with our Wellbeing & Lifestyle Coach all of our residents benefit from a Personalised Wellbeing Programme, which is reviewed every four weeks. The programme uses data from medical records, past employment history and personal experiences, interests and social activities, and assesses current levels of physical and mental ability, to create a supportive and nurturing lifestyle.

Wellbeing also includes self-esteem, confidence and self-care. We offer a Wellbeing Salon which helps to regain self-confidence by helping residents to relax and feel better emotionally and mentally. Our residents receive salon treatments every week and all our Homemakers are trained to give luxury hand massages. Our therapies are a great way to unwind, relax and get rid of unwanted stress and tension.

Homes also offer a number of mobility classes to improve residents range of movement, strength and flexibility which promotes independence and helps with a feel good factor.
