Ebby Azigwe is Home Manager at Kent House.

Ebbie has worked within the health and social care sector since 2008. Before becoming a home manager, Ebbie's journey with Gold Care Homes began as a deputy home manager and a regional support manager. Ebbie's roles essentially entailed offering constant support and assistance to several homes within a specific region. Ebbie has obtained a qualification in Leadership and Management Level 5. He is very passionate about the quality of care provided within the homes and is a champion of staff progression within the company.

Kent House offers first class care for residents over 65 located in quiet residential cul-de-sac in Harrow Weald. Each one of our residents enjoys unique, personalised care, built around them and designed to make their stay with us as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Gold Care Homes remains committed to ensuring all of our residents, loved ones, and hardworking members of staff are protected against the COVID-19 pandemic. All Gold Care Homes’ homes completed their second round of vaccinations. Our care homes have now begun the process of offering the booster vaccine to all residents.

The legislation makes vaccination mandatory for anyone who works in a care home, whatever their role. All care home residents will now be required to nominate up to 3 visitors who can enter the care home for regular visits. Visits must still be pre-booked, and visitors must test negative for COVID-19 at the start of the visit.

The wonderful facilities at Kent House make a world of difference to our residents. Whether it’s chatting in the cafe, pottering around the garden or enjoying the peace and quiet of the lounge, there really is a favourite place for everyone.

    As you’d expect, we work hard to keep our homes clean, comfortable and up to date. We’re constantly looking for new ways to improve our environment, but above all - we will always ensure our homes remains ‘homely’.

    We take as much care of our staff as we do of our residents. Delivering excellent care is key at Gold Care Homes. It motivates the way we invest, train and measure staff wellbeing. This ensures our entire workforce is fully engaged and is driving towards our corporate goals.

    We are active in pursuing a fully dedicated workforce and monitor the feedback of our staff through an annual Health and Happiness survey. After all, a happy workforce provides a happy service! We use a range of corporate initiatives to support staff engagement levels including: involving our staff when developing individual care home strategies, investment in training and development, identifying future stars in the business as well as regular social events. We recently launched our very own Dragons Dens style ideas forum, where staff, residents and their families can present their ideas to promote efficiency and improve the experience of our residents.

    To us, each and every resident is an individual. Each has his or her own life story. Each has their own likes and dislikes. Each has their own way of living. All of our residents enjoy their own care plan, tailored specifically for them. This allows us to build their care around their preferences, lifestyles and routines. It’s all part of our philosophy to see the person for who they are, not masked by age or condition. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring, person-centred approach.

    Aaron has worked at Kent house since March 2020 as a Deputy Manager. Aaron has worked within the Health and Social care sector for the last 5 years and has gain great experience and knowledge in the field of Health and Social Care. Aaron has various skills and knowledge that support his additional role as a Care Planning champion at Kent House and delivers training on care planning and supports senior care staff in writing detailed care plans. Aaron has completed all his mandatory training, as required, and has a Diploma level two in Health and Social Care. Aaron is very passionate about providing person-centered care to the elderly to ensure they receive the care and support needed to help them live their lives as required. Aaron would like to support care staff in improving their knowledge and skills in writing detailed care plans for service users.

    Irena has worked in the catering trade for over 12 years in a variety of roles in Italy, Poland, and the UK. Irena has worked as an assistant Chef/ Chef at Kent House for 3 years. Irena has a vast knowledge of nutrition and cooking styles gained from her education in nutrition at college in Poland and working in the industry for over 12 years she has gained more knowledge while working in Kent house through training. Irena has qualified at level 2 NVQ of Food Hygiene at college in Poland, she studied nutrition and dietetics. She has a Level 3 NVQ Health and safety at work. NVQ Level 2 in Diabetes Care. Irena takes pride in her role and is always striving to learn new, innovative cooking methods to help ensure her meals always match the varied needs of her residents. Irena would like to complete her level 3 NVQ in food hygiene and continue to improve the quality and nutritional value of every meal and a more varied choice.

    I have been working as a Health Care Assistant at Kent House for just over 3 months. During the last 3 months, I have learnt so much especially from my colleagues. Working in the care sector brings a lot of new opportunities which I am looking forward too. Despite being new, the management have been really understanding and patient which speaks really highly of them. Overall, I am really satisfied at Kent House and will highly recommend.

    Rahul has worked at Kent house since February 2020 as maintenance support and later took a full-time position as a permanent Maintenance person for the care home. Rahul has been in the care industry for 7 years. He started as a domestic assistant at HC-ONE in Hayes for 1 year and joined Victoria Care Centre, where he got the opportunity to learn and work as a Maintenance Assistant for 5 years. Rahul has various skills and knowledge that support his additional role as a Health and Safety champion at Kent House. Rahul has completed all his mandatory training as required including first aid, health and safety, infection control, person centred care, fire safety, legionella awareness, and fire marshal. He has also completed his NVQ level 2 in customer service. Rahul is known as the workplace Health and Safety Champion as he is extremely passionate about everyone's safety. Rahul strives to ensure Kent House is fully compliant in our next CQC inspection.

    Rebecca has worked at Kent house since January 2021 as a Care Assistant and later progressed to an Activity Coordinator. Rebecca only recently joined the health and social care industry after working in the Hospitality industry for the past 8 years with management skills and managing a team which made her shine for the position of Activity Coordinator. Rebecca has various skills and knowledge that support her additional role as a First Aid Champion at Kent House.

    Rebecca has completed all his mandatory training as required including first aid, health and safety, infection control, person-centered care, Care certificate, fire safety awareness, and fire marshal. Rebecca has recently enrolled to complete her NVQ diploma in Health and Social Care. Rebecca is very passionate about her role at Kent House and aims to make sure that all staff get the relevant training and take the lead in raising awareness about First Aid Emergencies and what to do in the event of an Emergency.

    I first began caring at Kent House last year when the Covid Pandemic took place in the UK. I really enjoy my job and its such a pleasure to see how my help improves another person’s quality of life. I support more than 30 residents, who have recently started residing in the home. But understandably adjusting to everyone's new way of life has been a challenge which I have throughly enjoyed. In addition, my colleagues and management have been outstanding and supportive. At the moment the caring role isn't having a big impact on me including my wellbeing however I know in the future it could and therefore i want to be better prepared.

    Activities Are So Important

    Our Activities Co-ordinators play a fundamental part in delivering our mission of enhancing the lives of our residents by creating a fun and hugely varied program for everyone to participate. A great source of fun and laughter, our range of activities really help each resident live their life to the full. Here at Gold Care Homes, we believe independent activity, hobbies and day to day chores boast self confidence. By taking the time to understand each residents capabilities, we’re able to build a personalized activity plan.

    Our aim is to create a programme that encourages as much interaction and enjoyment as possible. As you’d expect, most activities are indoors. However, when the weather permits, we make the most of our lovely outdoor patio areas and landscaped gardens. When our residents are feeling a little adventurous, we also plan nationwide trips to popular landmarks!
