Meet The Manager

Torie Pollard is Registered Manager at Brentwood Care Centre.

A Registered Nurse for over 25 years, I started my career in the NHS in A&E, moving on to Cardiothoracic and High Dependency Intensive Care. I moved into older persons care developing and managing Hospice services before transitioning into Care Homes in Deputy, Peripatetic and General Manager positions.

I joined Brentwood, in May 2020 and I am delighted to provide leadership and support at Brentwood Care Centre as Manager. Leadership to me is not just having a vision; it is the ability to utilise my clinical knowledge and skills to support the team with the direct delivery of care, as well as engaging with residents, relatives and staff to continue developing the home into a place where everyone can flourish.

I am proud to work alongside such a caring and compassionate team.

Torie Pollard

Situated in a pleasant residential area, Brentwood Care Centre is purpose-built and carefully designed to support our residents to live happy, fulfilled and comfortable lives.

Our team cares for our residents with the same kindness and warmth shown to members of their own family. Working closely together, they provide residential dementia care, nursing care and end of life care

Located over three floors, our home includes light and airy, open plan lounges/diners as well as spacious en-suite bedrooms, and a variety of communal spaces such as a cinema room, quiet room and a hair salon.

Our landscaped gardens are wheelchair accessible and designed to be a welcoming place for people to relax on one of the patios complete with outdoor furniture, or to enjoy a spot of light gardening.

We also have available for resident and family visiting an Edison DayLodge.

The lodges give residents and their families the peace-of-mind that it’s a clean and safe environment thanks to the Automatic Sanitisation System that’s guaranteed to kill 99.9% off all germs, including the Coronavirus (as stated by Edison & Day®). Other important safety features include separate entrances for residents and visitors, and a plexiglass room divider. It also has the added benefit of heating and air-conditioning so, whatever the weather, everyone can enjoy their visit in comfort.

The Day Lodge is comfortable and bright with spacious facilities that have been beautifully furnished and decorated for maximum comfort, creating a peaceful and homely atmosphere for safe visitation; enabling residents to spend time with their loved ones whilst adhering to Government and Public Health Guidelines.

They are the perfect place to allow families to spend quality time together, worry free.

Charlie LeBatt
Deputy Manager

I joined the Brentwood Care Centre family in May 2020 as their Deputy Manager, supporting and working alongside the staff team to provide outstanding care to the residents.

My journey in care started when I was 18 years old working as a care assistant with children with learning disabilities. I knew at that point I had found a profession where I could make a difference. I then went on to qualify as a nurse at London Southbank University. My clinical background has been predominantly in A&E, working at two major trauma centres as a charge nurse. I moved into the Care Home sector starting out as a Dementia Nursing Unit Manager. I have been Deputy Manager and a Peripatetic Manager in my previous roles.

The wellbeing, dignity, security and happiness of our residents is at the forefront of everything I do. I am proud to work with the staff team to make Brentwood Care Centre a home from home.

Customer Relations Manager

I feel very privileged to be able to help residents and families, providing advice and guidance about the facilities and services at Brentwood Care Centre.

Supporting residents and families who are looking for and moving in to a care environment, is such a vital part of my role. I live locally with my family in Brentwood - it is a lovely town to bring up my son.

The journey into care is often at a critical point and can be a very emotionally challenging time. No two journeys are the same and I pride myself on listening and building a relationship with each person and their family. I have worked in care for nearly 3 years and have enjoyed every moment. Each day is different and I like working as part of a team to make a difference in our residents and families lives.

Head Chef

I joined RCH in January of 2020 after working in high end contact catering for many years. Having worked in care at the start of my catering career I decided that it was time to get back into it and push the quality of care home food as far as we could. Using fresh local produce, creating exciting, nutritious and tasty menus. With dishes that residents will recognise as well as a few they won't for the more adventurous ones. The amazing kitchen team and myself have worked together to give the residents the food that they want with the dishes that they enjoy using only the best produce that we can get.

The Importance Of Meal Times

We are proud of the high quality of our meals here at Brentwood Care Centre that are carefully designed to be enjoyable whilst providing balanced nutrition to our residents.

They are lovingly cooked and prepared by our in-house catering team and follow the seasons.

Regularly rotating menus ensure we always have meals which cater to our residents’ personal choices; including those who require modified or specialist diets.

To create a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere for our residents to enjoy their mealtimes, our tables are lovingly laid with crisp table linen, menus clearly showing what’s on offer and cutlery and dinnerware which supports their independence.

Activities Are So Important

Supporting our residents to enjoy every day living at Brentwood Care Centre is a key focus for our dedicated team.

By getting to know each person, we are able to tailor our activities and events to their personal tastes as well as activities they may like to try.

No two days are the same here and, alongside our usual daily hobby-based activities, we also like to host events which are a little out of the ordinary.

In addition to keeping fit with our chair-based exercises, baking, quizzes, movie afternoons and our knit and natter club, we also take great pleasure in welcoming visiting entertainers, schools, nurseries, Pets As Therapy dogs and groups to our home to enjoy spending time with our residents.

Our team and residents also love pottering around the local garden centre, visiting local attractions, such as country parks and Southend seafront, and getting dressed up for our themed days throughout the year — complete with themed menus and decorations!

Every month our residents also get the chance to take part in their very own special request show on a local radio station. They love choosing their favourite songs and then gather together to hear them played on the radio – where they chat about what they were up to when the songs were first released.
