Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

    Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Infection Screening We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

    Our Building and Facilities

There are communal lounges on each floor, for the residents to use at their leisure. There’s also a quiet lounge available to all residents.

Whether you’re entertaining your family and friends, spending time with other residents or taking part in activities, our living rooms are ideal. It’s always up to you whether you want to get involved with activities – you’re more than welcome to sit back, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Our communal lounge spaces are very popular with the residents and they’re where a lot of the socialising in the home takes place, as well as in the dining rooms. And our activities often get residents talking about their lives and experiences in a fun, relaxed setting.

There is a dedicated quiet lounge in the Charlton Unit where families enjoy the peace and quiet together. You’re also free to use any of the home or gardens, or your own room, to meet with your visitors.

We have 64 bedrooms set across three floors, divided between our residential, nursing and dementia care suites. All the rooms are en-suite wet rooms, but for residents who find bathing difficult, or prefer a bath, there are also bathrooms and shower rooms within the home where full assistance can be provided.

All our rooms are furnished to the highest specifications with your comfort in mind, and each room has individual décor. Your bedroom furniture consists of: an appropriate bed suitable to your needs, wardrobe, three drawer chest, bedside table with lockable drawer, over-bed table, armchair and other furniture suitable to the size of the room. There’s also space for a TV and telephone socket for your convenience.

We understand that moving into Ashbourne Court will be a considerable transition, but one we try to make feel as easy as possible. Your room is your own personal space, which is why we encourage you to personalise it if you like, by hanging your favourite pictures or bringing small pieces of furniture.

We encourage people to make the rooms their own. Quite a few of our residents will ask us to take out pieces of our furniture to make room for some of their own from home. Others bring loads of stuff and really make it their own.

    Activities Are So Important

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents.

The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.

Magic moments are unique to each individual and so it is important that the Magic Moments programme reflects this, tailoring activities to meet each resident’s individual needs in the best possible way, whilst at the same time enjoying the company of others.

At Ashbourne Court our Magic Moments Club Co-ordinators, get to know our residents really well and will seek to provide an ever-changing programme of events and activities tailored to the needs of our residents and aimed at improving their wellbeing in terms of their mind, body and soul.

The Magic Moments Club team run a ‘Welcome to the Week Meeting’ for our Residents and families so that everyone knows what is coming up and can start looking forward to their favourite Magic Moments!

Our daily and weekly Magic Moments Club programmes are posted on our notice boards and residents and their families can take part as they wish. We also run monthly Magic Moments Club themed events where we encourage families and our local community to take part.

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents:
