Donna Barks is Home Manager at Tunbridge Wells Care Centre.
Donna came to Tunbridge Wells Care Centre in early 2022 as a manager fresh from another home near Maidstone, where she was deputy manager before progressing to home manager in 2020. She is an experienced carer and nurse who spent three years working on the acute surgical ward at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, as well as in community hospitals and several care homes in Kent and Devon where she oversaw the care of people with advanced dementia. In 2022 Donna won the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards’ Rising Star trophy in recognition of her exceptional service. Donna loves Tunbridge Wells and is delighted to be managing the home, which is so close to the centre of town.
Tunbridge Wells Care Centre is situated in a pleasant residential area of Royal Tunbridge Wells and provides person-centred nursing, dementia and palliative care, alongside all the facilities needed for maximum comfort.
From the moment you enter the chandelier-lit reception with its bright, double-height atrium, you get a clear sense of the quality and welcoming atmosphere residents and families can expect. A genuine culture of kindness, respect and consideration sets the tone, helping residents feel truly at home whatever level of care they require.
The home accommodates up to 70 residents in bright, spacious ensuite bedrooms across three floors, all accessible via lift. Every area of the home—including the landscaped garden—is fully wheelchair friendly.
Nursing and care staff are available 24/7 on each floor, supported by dedicated teams covering housekeeping, administration, facilities, activities and catering. Each floor also has a comfortable lounge with TVs, books and games, offering both cosy spaces to relax and larger areas for group activities. The on-site hair salon is a popular spot for residents to enjoy regular treatments.
Outside, the large landscaped garden provides a peaceful space to socialise, take part in outdoor activities or simply watch the home’s resident ducks enjoying their day.
