Activities Are So Important

Life at The Mill House is centred around helping residents continue to enjoy the things that matter most to them. Our varied activities programme combines group events, social opportunities and one-to-one experiences, all tailored to residents' individual interests, abilities and preferences.

Residents can take part in a wide range of activities including gardening, cookery, arts and crafts, sensory sessions, music, games, reminiscence activities and visits from entertainers. The home's gardens, raised vegetable beds, rabbits, koi carp and Pekin chickens also provide opportunities for meaningful engagement with nature and the outdoors.

We believe that meaningful activities are about far more than keeping busy – they are about maintaining identity, purpose, connection and joy. Our team takes the time to get to know each resident's life story, interests and aspirations, creating experiences that are personal and meaningful to them.

This person-centred approach extends beyond the home itself. Whether arranging special outings, celebrating milestones or helping residents fulfil long-held wishes, we are committed to creating memorable moments. One recent example saw resident Vera celebrate her 102nd birthday with a dream trip to feed giraffes, a special experience that attracted coverage from the BBC and brought immense joy to Vera and her family.

By focusing on what each person enjoys and values, we help residents continue living fulfilling, enriching lives while feeling part of a warm and supportive community.
