Mojibola Olusesan is Manager at Puddingstone Grange.
Puddingstone Grange care home is registered to offer residential care for male and female service users, who are elderly and frail, have a dementia related condition and nursing care needs.
A mental health unit was been opened within the home in August 2015 to provide care and support for those living with mental health conditions.
A community district nurse service is available for the residential units.
Community psychiatric support is provided when necessary, through a resident's general practitioner services.
The mental health unit receives support from Oxleas Health Service, 24 hours a day in addition to regular reviews of those residents from the community psychiatric team.
At the heart of Avante Care and Support's work is a philosophy of care where staff encourage social interaction, engagement and the eradication of loneliness and boredom.
Puddingstone Grange ensures its care and support helps to develop interests and hobbies within the care home and provide many opportunities to meet and make new friends.
The design promotes the use of the external space and this will be achieved by having safe, level access to the garden area at the rear, which has a meandering pathway, raised planters, seating areas and water feature.garden area at the rear, which has a meandering pathway, raised planters, seating areas and water feature.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Our Philosophy of Care is The Eden Alternative which is based on the core belief that ageing should be a continued stage of development and growth, rather than a period of decline. In a culture that typically views aging as a period of decline, the Eden Alternative philosophy asserts that no matter how old we are or what challenges we live with, life is about continuing to grow. The Eden Alternative seeks to cure loneliness, not with medication, but by providing residents with companionship and surrounding them with life Studies show that implementation of the Eden Alternative is a powerful tool for improving quality of life and quality of care for those living in care homes. Also, homes that have adopted Eden as an organisational-wide philosophy have found that there is improved staff satisfaction and retention and significant decreases in use of medication. |
