Margaret Atiror is Registered Manager at Parkview.
The Home Manager has worked in the Adult Social Care field in various roles for almost thirty years and has been in management for over 25 years. She has a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience covering various client groups including: the Homeless, adults living with enduring Mental Health conditions, those living with different stages on dementia, adults living with Learning Disabilities and Older adults with both residential Care and Nursing needs. She has managed a wide range of settings including: Supported Housing, Supported Living, Extra Care, Residential and Nursing Homes, including multi-site management. She is totally motivated and driven by how rewarding it is when individuals under her care and support experience positive impact and achieve best possible outcomes.
Parkview is a popular home; well supportedby the local Bexley community. The home has a welcoming atmosphere and residents can enjoy activities based on them as an individual as well as part of a group. There are many local areas of interest for residents to engage with the community with regular visits to the home from local schools and social groups.
Avante’s Philosophy of Care is The Eden Alternative, which is based on the core belief that ageing should be a continued stage of development and growth, rather than a period of decline. In a culture that typically views aging as a period of decline, the Eden Alternative philosophy asserts that no matter how old we are or what challenges we live with, life is about continuing to grow. The Eden Alternative seeks to cure loneliness, not with medication, but by providing residents with companionship and surrounding them with life. It seeks to cure helplessness by assistance with existing skills and interests; the opportunity to learn new ones and by encouraging residents to feel engaged and useful in their community.
All Care staff at Parkview undertake a 5 day pre-work training course and a workplace induction, which has been developed in line with the Skills for Care Standards and the Care. The induction training covers the following:
Understanding of the role; Personal Development; Duty of Care, Equality and Diversity; Work in a Person Centred Way; Communication; Privacy and Dignity; Fluids and Nutrition; Awareness of Mental Health; Dementia and Learning Disabilities; Safeguarding Adults; Safeguarding Children; Basic Life Support; Health and Safety; Handling Information and Infection Prevention and Control.
Within the first six weeks following employment, care home staff complete the Core Basic Competencies for Care Assistants or Core Basic Competencies for Senior Care with their Care Home Manager.
All staff undertake a minimum of 3 shadow shifts and complete Core Basic Competencies for Care Assistants or Core Basic Competencies for Senior Care Leads.
First aid training is part of the work place induction.
