Filipa Barros is The Home Manager at Greenbanks Care Home.
I'm Filipa, I began my care journey at the age of 18, initially taking on the role of a care assistant to fund my degree. My passion for making a difference led me into social care where I became a social worker for the Portugueses Red Cross. Upon my move to England I began my career as a senior care assistant, navigating through various roles including team leader, field care supervisor, deputy manager to now manager at Greenbanks. It's more than just a job to me - it's a heartfelt commitment to creating a home where residents and staff become family and where every day is an opportunity to make a difference.
Greenbanks Care Home sits in the heart of Liphook village. With 25 bedrooms, Greenbanks has the benefit of lovely familial setting, which is how we believe people prefer to be cared for. For us, care is more than just helping our residents in their daily routines. It is about engagement. This means our aim is for our residents to have meaningful and fun days. Engaging with the local community is incredibly important to us and Greenbanks is a notable part of the local Liphook community. Greenbanks benefits from latest technology in care plans and infrared sensor call bells should residents need assistance.
While Greenbanks is a care home, Greenbanks’ approach is that care homes don’t need to look like care homes. As we all like soft colours, comfortable bedding and designer lighting in our own homes, there should be no reason why a care home cannot have the same without looking like a hotel!
