Meet The Manager

Michaela O'Brien is Care Home Manager at Upland Manor Care Home.

Michaela brings with her over 20 years of experience in the care sector. She began her journey as a Care Assistant and quickly progressed through roles as Team Leader, Deputy Manager, and, for the last 15 years, as a Home Manager. Her career has included managing both nursing and residential services, always with a strong focus on delivering high-quality person-centred care.

Most recently, Michaela served as Home Manager at Ashlands Manor with New Care, where she led with compassion and excellence. She was drawn to Lovett Care Group by its ethos, vision, and values and is now excited to take on a new challenge: commissioning and leading Upland Manor.

Michaela shared:

“The most rewarding part of being a Home Manager is seeing the difference the team makes to the residents living in the home. I’m excited to build a positive culture at Upland Manor and support a new team in providing the very best care.”

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Safeguarding our residents is our utmost priority and we seek to comply with all legal requirements in our safeguarding practices.

We will enable our residents and team members to understand and recognise what harm or abuse is so that everyone knows how to keep our residents safe and take a proactive approach to safeguarding.

We will ensure that a collaborative, joined-up approach to safety is followed and involves the resident and other partners in their care. This includes referrals, admissions, and discharge, and where residents are moving between services.

Risks to residents will be assessed, monitored, and managed daily.

We will take steps to prevent abuse or discrimination, respond appropriately to any signs or allegations of abuse and work effectively with others, including the residents, their relatives, and appropriate authorities, to agree good and safe continuity of care.

We will ensure that lessons are learned, communicated and improvements made when things go wrong.

Environmental risks in the home will be assessed and managed regularly and effectively.

Improvements to safety will always be made and the resulting changes will be closely monitored and managed appropriately.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
