Meet The Manager

Sue Stepney is The Home Manager at Tupwood Gate.

After qualifying in Sheffield in 1970, I spent many years nursing in Zambia then South Africa. During my time in South Africa I took a break and opened a restaurant, Turtle Bay in Pietermaritzburg Natal, then owned and ran a 110 bed hotel business in the Transkei. I also managed to set up a clinic at the hotel for the local village community of 4400 people who had no electricity or immediate medical facilities. Having previously been the Matron of The Horder Centre specialising in joint replacement surgery I joined Cygnet in August 2008 and until October 2013 was part of the Clinical Governance team as the Corporate Risk and Information Governance Manager, responsible for clinical risk management and quality control systems including clinical audits. I set up a risk management system for the group and notification system for serious incident reporting and acted as Cygnet’s Caldicott Guardian and member of the Information Governance Board.
