Our beautiful, landscaped gardens have sensory planting with aromatic herbs, which is wonderful for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, a vegetable patch which many of our residents love to take care of and wheelchair friendly pathways.

The Park also has its own salon, with a hairdresser visiting us and other care homes in Derby for regular appointments. The salon is also the perfect place for our pamper sessions.

Elsewhere we have four cosy themed lounges and a library filled with modern and classic titles. Meanwhile, our reminiscence lounge includes nostalgic memorabilia and gramophone. This space is extremely comforting, especially for those living with dementia.

Activities Are So Important

Many of our residents enjoy baking activities, making everything from cakes and biscuits to creating dishes with the produce they have grown themselves. We love to welcome talented live entertainers, who visit us and other nursing homes in Derby to perform. Music is such a therapeutic activity, especially for people living with dementia or memory loss, reigniting wonderful memories.

For our animal lovers, we have enjoyed welcoming four-legged friends to The Park, including equines from Derbyshire Shetland ponies. And for our residents with greater physical disabilities, or those with higher nursing care needs, we can organise special visits to their bedside. Animal therapy sessions are so enriching for our residents who have sensory impairments.

With our own minibus, we are able to help our residents to remain active in our community. We organise trips from their care home in Derby into Chaddesden and the wider Derbyshire area. Our residents particularly like to visit Matlock Bath, local garden centres and Manor Farm Park & Woodlands in East Leake.
