Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We have six critical steps that every carer must successfully complete before starting employment with us.

All of our carers are local, and we know each of them personally.

Our carers are employed directly by us and receive full support to perform at their best, including tailored coaching. As a people-first organisation, our coaching programme also supports carers’ wellbeing and mental health. Many carers tell us, “Thank you for investing in me as a person, as well as in the skills I need to do my job.”

Each carer is carefully matched to clients, and we organise care through small teams to ensure shared responsibility, continuity of care, and consistency for every client.

We maintain additional team capacity so that no carer ever visits a client if they are unwell. If a carer has been in contact with someone who is unwell, we implement strict infection control measures to minimise any risk of transmission.

The use of small, consistent care teams—where carers and clients work in dedicated “bubbles”—remains a key part of our scheduling to ensure best practice in infection prevention, carried forward from COVID-19.

When asked for urgent increased support we always find out diagnosis and suspected causes and we build that into the scheduling to protect clients the carer will see.

Clients are seen in their own homes.
Carers disinfect after each client and on entering the clients home.
PPE is worn and disposed of as required by each client.

Activities Are So Important

We are so proud of our activities - We are literally open to everything. Peer to Peer support means we can match carers who have reference points so there is always plenty to talk about during the visits, and plenty of understanding and shared values. These are just some of our activities:-  Swimming, yoga - including specialist chair based yoga classes, gym, we walk as often as we can with clients. We attend events, museums, National Trust, coffee shops and much more. Our clients enjoy outings with carers who have the same interests and find it easier to participate when the carer has the similar fitness levels and they join in as a team. Where necessary, we support our clients to attend classes and activities on Zoom.

We are not yoga teachers but by accompanying our clients online as fellow students following instructions, the teacher feels confident and the client is more likely to keep up the activities.

We can help clients get online to connect with family and friends too - encouragement is everything!
