Docking House - Care Home
Meet The Manager

Sherry Peel is Manager at Docking House.

Sherry started at Docking House as a carer in February 2014. Within six-month, Sherry progressed to being a Senior Carer and again within six months of this she was promoted to being a joint Assistant Manager.

In September 2022 Sherry reluctantly took on the full responsibility of managing Docking House. Although initially uncertain about her post, she soon gained an abundance of confidence and gained the full trust of her staff, her residents and their families.

Today, Docking House is a warm, welcoming and happy home. Sherry manages the Home, alongside looking after her family of 3 girls and 9 grandchildren.

Sherry Peel

Docking House is nestled in the charming village of Docking, one of the highest points in Norfolk and a true gem of North Norfolk. With six scenic roads converging on the village, Docking offers easy access to the stunning coastlines of Brancaster Bay and Heacham, as well as the unspoiled countryside dotted with hamlets and villages. It’s a tranquil yet well-connected location—perfect for retirement living.

At Docking House, we believe that life should be lived with comfort, companionship, and compassionate care. The village itself adds to our residents’ enjoyment, with a traditional pub, a local shop, and a picturesque pond where they can spend peaceful moments watching the ducks.

Our home is a place where residents are made to feel truly valued. From pamper days and musical afternoons to regular visits from hairdressers, chiropodists, and other trusted professionals, life at Docking House is filled with opportunities to enjoy, relax, and feel part of a welcoming family. With the dedicated support of the district nursing team, expert medical care is always available whenever it is needed.

We specialise in dementia care, supporting residents with complex needs, and providing expert care for those living with challenging behaviour. Above all, we understand that every individual is unique. Before moving in, we take time to carry out a detailed assessment to learn about each resident’s personal preferences, routines, and care requirements—ensuring we can provide the highest standard of personalised support.

Whether you’re seeking day care, a respite stay, a holiday break, or a long-term home, Docking House offers a safe, supportive, and happy environment where every day can be enjoyed to the fullest.

There is also a comfortable enclosed area at the front of the home available for visits. Please let the home know in advance if you would like to use this area.

When the weather is kind, our enclosed garden provides the perfect setting for outdoor visits — whether it’s a quiet chat in the sunshine or a stroll among the flowers. Wherever you choose to meet, you can be sure of a warm, welcome and a relaxed, homely atmosphere

Our Building and Facilities

Docking House has been thoughtfully designed to be comfortable, accessible, and welcoming for everyone who lives here. We have three bright, modern and newly decorated lounges to suit every mood — our lively air-conditioned TV lounge, where residents gather to enjoy a good film or watch their favourite shows together, and our peaceful quiet lounge, perfect for reading, relaxing, or simply enjoying a moment of calm.

The dining room is at the heart of our home — a warm, social space where residents share meals, laughter, and conversation whilst overlooking the garden.

The bathrooms have been newly renovated with a fresh, modern feel, designed to be safe and convenient for everyone — whether they have full or limited mobility.

Outside, our beautiful enclosed garden is a favourite spot in the warmer months. Whether it’s soaking up the sunshine, tending to flowers, playing with the home rabbits or simply enjoying the fresh air, it’s a peaceful place to relax and spend time with friends and family.

To make life even more comfortable, we also arrange regular visits from trusted professionals including a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician, and dentist — so residents can receive essential services without having to leave the home.

Description

Our rooms are thoughtfully designed to provide the perfect balance of comfort, privacy, and independence. Each bedroom is furnished with a cosy bed, ample wardrobe space for personal belongings, and a specialist chair where residents can relax, read, or enjoy a quiet moment in comfort.

Many of our rooms also feature modern en-suite facilities for added convenience and peace of mind. For those who prefer a little extra room to move around, larger bedrooms are available at an additional cost.

We encourage residents to make their room truly feel like home by adding personal touches such as family photographs, ornaments, or other treasured keepsakes. Televisions can be provided on request, or residents are welcome to bring their own.

To support safety and well-being, we also use Earzz, an innovative monitoring system that allows us to provide more personalised care at night. This helps reduce unnecessary disturbances, while giving extra reassurance and lowering the risk of falls during the night.

At Docking House, life is full of opportunities to enjoy new experiences, revisit favourite pastimes, and make happy memories. Our dedicated Activity Coordinator creates a varied programme of events, both inside and outside the home, ensuring there’s always something to look forward to.

Within the home, residents can enjoy pampering sessions, arts & crafts, games, musical performances, and visits from special guests – including singers, musicians, friendly ponies, alpacas, and even exotic animals through ZooLab. We also host lively celebrations for Easter, VE Day, Halloween, and our much-loved summer and Christmas parties, where families are warmly invited to join the fun.

When residents fancy a change of scenery, we’re perfectly placed for a gentle stroll to the local shop and duck pond, a visit to the park, or even a relaxed afternoon at the pub.
