Kerrie Hughes is the Registered Manager at Devonshire House and Lodge.

Hello, my name is Kerrie Hughes,

I am a Senior Care Home Manager and have worked for Harbour Healthcare for 4 years with over 15 years of experience in care home management.

I have a positive and happy attitude and am a dedicated individual who strives to improve the quality of care in care homes.  

I have been the Registered Manager at Devonshire House & Lodge for the past 3 years. I have worked in all departments within a care home, this has given me the ability and confidence to be able to support my team, to provide an excellent standard of care. 

Together, with the help of the home’s wider community, we aim to provide a fun environment where everyone feels valued and safe in an inclusive home.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are following the advise of National and Local authorities including Public Health England and our local Infection Control and Prevention team.

All necessary protective equipment will be supplied and visitors may be asked to complete Lateral Flow tests.

Visits will be by appointment only. The Home's team will inform you about what arrangements are in place to keep you, our residents and team members as safe as possible.

Should there be positive cases of COVID in the Home, then visits will not be permitted.

Team members and residents are being tested as per the latest guidelines.

Newly decorated lounges, bedrooms and bathrooms ensure that the standard of accommodation is certainly of a high standard and has brought to the home a whole new look! However, it’s care and support for residents that is at the centre of all considerations in the home. Resident care plans reflect all that an individual would want and need for their care to be delivered in the way they choose, with independence and dignity as prime considerations. All care teams are dedicated to delivering the best of care to all residents and work closely with GP’s and other clinical professionals from the local area to ensure that residents are well cared for. 

Devonshire Lodge offers the very best of care and environment for residential living. Extra-large, beautifully decorated rooms with en-suite wet rooms ensures the very best of living for those requiring the highest standard of accommodation, a visit to the Lodge is very much recommended as there are only 10 rooms on offer. Devonshire Lodge enjoys a dedicated dining and lounge area and a private garden.

Many of our bedrooms overlook our wonderful gardens which are easily accessible for residents with varying mobility.

I started at Devonshire House and Lodge as the Business Deputy Manager in November 2019. 

I had previously been a Community Sister for 5 years. I specialised in Tissue Viability and End of Life care. 

I am new to the Nursing Home environment but over the past 7 months I have grown both in experience and confidence and now feel part of the team. 

I am looking forward to developing my current role within Harbour Healthcare and supporting Kerrie our Manager to achieve excellent outcomes for the residents and an Outstanding CQC rating.

I am the Clinical Lead/Deputy Manager for Devonshire House and Lodge, in Plymouth.

I have over 32 years experience as a Registered Nurse, including District Nursing and as a Clinical Education Tutor at Plymouth University.

I am passionate about encouraging our team members at Devonshire House to deliver person centred care of the highest standard. I strive to build and improve upon the skills, knowledge and awareness of our team.

I believe good communication and sharing our goals of care with our residents, families and multi-disciplinary teams, is key to providing a caring effective and compassionate service
