Stafford Care Home at the Heart of the Community

Crispin Court Care Home in Staffordshire is one of eight homes in the county. Reviews of the fantastic facilities and services on offer are not only provided by residents and their visiting families, but also by the Care Quality Commission, who have recognised us as Outstanding.

Crispin Court is situated on Stone Road, North of the town centre and within easy reach of the M6. It is easily accessible for those looking for quality retirement living, residential care, respite care and dementia care in Stafford, all of which are expertly delivered by a highly trained care team.

Our experienced local manager has an exemplary record of establishing thriving communities of care in the Stafford area. Crispin Court truly shines amongst the other care homes across the county, with its vibrant and supportive atmosphere and its holistic, forward-thinking approach to elderly care. We warmly welcome couples or companions to continue their care journey together in our care home.

Featuring two cafés, a cinema with surround sound and big comfy armchairs, a library on every floor, and a piano lounge, there is much to love about our Stafford care home. The residents’ bedrooms are spacious and have convenient walk-in wet rooms, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, with plenty of room for personal keepsakes, photos, and ornaments.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Avery Healthcare has always made the health and safety of our residents and staff a priority, and the Covid-19 pandemic has required us to raise our exacting standards to even higher levels. That is why we are taking the innovative step to introduce a cleaning system into our care homes that is already proven to kill 99.9% of viruses, including MRSA, e-Coli, norovirus and the SARS virus (which is similar to Cov-2, which causes Covid-19).

Avery is now leading in the care sector with the testing of an established cleaning system that refreshes and sanitises a bedroom in less than an hour, with a larger capacity variant addressing communal areas. Keeping both areas clean in this way will be an effective method in how Avery care homes manage their environments, to keep them as virus and bacteria-free as possible.

All Avery homes are now equipped with Topaz Machines ready for when we can allow visiting into the homes. The system hosts two units, one larger which dispenses hand sanitiser to visitors upon arrival and exit; it also provides an important messaging display screen to advise visitors of the latest news, and the other, a smaller screen, which operates as a thermal checker so that we can support temperature checks of those entering the building. Yet another fantastic piece of technology that provides relatives with safer, more efficient visits with their loved ones.

As we’ve learned during this pandemic, we are all in this together. We want our residents, staff, and their respective families to know that when they are in an Avery care home, that it is one of the safest and cleanest places to be. We also want relatives to be confident that their loved ones are being cared for in the best possible way, and for anyone in the position of placing a loved one in to care, to have the peace of mind that an Avery home will be a clean and safe haven.

In another step by Avery Healthcare to help relative visiting during the pandemic, the Group has invested in more outdoor garden ‘visitor pods’ to be installed at all Avery Healthcare homes.

The pods, installed by Wild Environments, are a garden room specifically designed to facilitate safe face-to-face contact with relatives and visitors. Each pod contains a floor to ceiling partition screen and a hands-free intercom so that communication is clear and safe for use. They are fitted with internal electrics and two, low-surface temperature electric panel heaters.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

There’s no shortage of activities to keep mind and body interested and alert at Crispin Court. Our team of Activity Coordinators make sure of that. Residents can stay within the care home and have some gentle pampering in our hair and therapy salons, gentle outdoor exercise in the garden, either in keeping fit sessions or hands-on gardening. Or they can leave the confines of the home, courtesy of our own minibus, and visit all the many interesting places on our doorstep – Chatsworth House, Trentham Park, the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, for instance — and go out to the local theatre, shops and for out for pub meals. Our mystery trips are always popular and sometimes we even have a weekend away. We have visited other Avery care homes on many occasions who enjoy close proximity to the seaside.

We have close links with the local Stafford community, such as schools and churches, and are pleased to offer the home as venue for organisations and associations.

Modern technology poses no problems for us. We are keen to use the internet and i-pads as resources and Wi-Fi is freely available throughout Crispin. YouTube can be very useful for trips down Memory Lane and stimulating conversation. And of course we are no strangers to Facebook either, as it is an excellent way of keeping everyone in touch with the finest of Stafford care homes.
