Meet The Manager

Tracie Scholes is Registered Manager at Choice Care.

Tracies role as Registered Manager is to ensure that we deliver consistent high quality care servcies to our clients in their own homes, and to work with our registered nurse to continually develop the skills and expertise of all our carers. She has worked in care since 1999 and has gained her Registered Managers qualification.

Tracie Scholes

The company was started in 1999 by the managing Director, Andrew Key, in a small office at Eanam Wharf in Blackburn and quickly gained a reputation for providing quality care and support to people in the community in Blackburn.

They were one of the first home care companies to be awarded the Investors In People award and have pursued our objective to always do better, pushing back at the barriers that inhibit improvement.

You can see this in our achievements over the years by successfully challenging the way medications were administered in the community for the better as well as gaining a nationally recognised NHS End of Life Accreditation with East Lancashire Hospice. We also improved the support we give to all our staff so that our care professionals can develop their skills, expertise and capabilities. Our customers include private individuals, social services, the clinical
commissioning group, solicitors and health professionals.

Over the last year through the COVID pandemic we have been busy innovating and can now provide enahnced care services to include those clients whom need complex and clinical care. This has been made possible by the empoyment of a nurse, Donna Garrett RGN, and gaining an additional registration from the Care Quality Commission.

Managing Director

We are commissioned to provide a wide range of care by Social Services, private individuals, solicitors, Clinical Commissioning Groups/NHS and companies. Currently social care is stuck with an outdated and traditional model. Having spent the last year or so on developing change I am pleased to say that we have been able to develop our skills, expertise and competencies to deliver a standard and level of care way beyond those traditional models. We do that by bridging the gap between care and nursing and have employed a registered nurse to help. This is especially important as, with a specific registration from the Care Quality Commission, we can now provide services once thought to be the sole remit of District Nurses. Now we can base our care practices on many of the principles of Nursing and deliver more that general home care. We can now help clients with complex care, wound management, catheter and continence management and take clinical observations.

We are excited to introduce our new registered general nurse, Donna Garrett RGN, to the role of Nurse Care Manage at Choice Care. Our ethos is to redefine private home care and so her role will be to support and provide enhanced care services for all our clients and to bridge the gap between care and nursing, and to train and help our care teams with their continuing professional development enabling them to go beyond general social care to provide enhanced care to a wide range of clients. For example, with complex care, care for specific conditions such as strokes and Parkinson’s or in helping clients to manage diabetes by administering insulin for them.
