Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.
| What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
|---|---|---|
|
At Baylham Care Home we take infection prevention and control extremely seriously. In addition to our standard hygiene practices, we have implemented a comprehensive programme of safety measures to protect both residents and staff. These include: Enhanced Cleaning Regimes: We’ve increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitation throughout the home, with particular focus on high-touch areas such as handrails, door handles, communal spaces and bathroom facilities. Robust PPE Protocols: All staff are provided with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and trained in its correct use. PPE supplies are regularly reviewed to ensure consistent availability. Ongoing Staff Training: Our team receives up-to-date training on infection prevention best practices, including hand hygiene, correct donning and doffing of PPE, and recognising early signs of infection. Vaccination and Boosters: We actively promote vaccinations and boosters for residents and staff to maintain high levels of immunity against seasonal illnesses and other vaccine-preventable infections. Visitor Safety Measures: Visiting arrangements are carefully managed with risk-based assessments, clear guidance for visitors, and infection-control practices in place to allow safe social contact while reducing transmission risk. Cohorting and Isolation Protocols: Where necessary, we implement cohorting and isolation procedures to reduce cross-infection between residents while ensuring compassionate care continues. Promoting Good Hygiene: Hand sanitising stations are readily available throughout the home, and we encourage regular handwashing for residents, staff and visitors alike. Air Quality and Ventilation: We monitor and optimise ventilation in communal and living areas to support a healthier indoor environment. These measures are regularly reviewed and updated in line with the latest public health advice to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone at Baylham Care Home. |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
