Alyson Day is Home Manager at Avon Valley Care Home.
Working for Avery and commissioning Avon Valley retirement home has been a dream come true, a blank canvas. The chance to develop best practices or routines from the outset as well as recruit my very own team. To be able to develop staff into good ways of working, have staff that are there for the right reasons, build a team that are proud and respectful of what they do.
My passion for this Bristol care home comes not only from my own experience and the knowledge I have gained but also from my own personal life. I’ve had a very personal experience of a loved one needing dementia care, I know the emotional turmoil, the difficulty in letting go or trusting someone else to care for that person. I believe that all individuals should naturally have the right to choose. Why should any person have to change just to be in care?
Meet our friendly Home Manager at Avon Valley Retirement Village in Bristol, a home-from-home. Experience the convenience of our companion suites, tailor-made for couples, siblings, or close friends in search of a joint care experience. Chat to the team at the home over a cup of tea in one of our safe visiting rooms or garden area. Call us and we’ll be happy to talk you through the different facilities in the home and discuss your specific care needs.
Private Residential Home in Bristol
Situated in Kingswood on the outskirts of Bristol, Avon Valley opened in May of 2019. Just a two minute drive from the A4174 Bristol ring road and 20 minutes from the M4, our care home offers residential, dementia and respite care to residents drawn from across the South Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol areas. Our proximity to the South Gloucestershire and Cotswold countryside is a big asset and our communal balconies look out over the beautiful rolling hills beyond Bristol’s city limits.
Life at Avon Valley Care Home is active and engaging, we are a diverse bunch of people, and our activities and engagements reflect this. There really is something for everyone, whether it is trips out around Gloucestershire and Somerset or the local community groups who pass through our doors.
We never forget that this is your home, and we work hard from day one to settle everybody in. Your room is your own and you can furnish it in any way you wish. At Avon Valley Care Home, we acknowledge that life is for living, and so we encourage and support all our residents in continuing to pursue and share their retirement hobbies or interests with other like-minded residents.

| What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||

Avery Healthcare has always made the health and safety of our residents and staff a priority, and the Covid-19 pandemic has required us to raise our exacting standards to even higher levels. That is why we are taking the innovative step to introduce a cleaning system into our care homes that is already proven to kill 99.9% of viruses, including MRSA, e-Coli, norovirus and the SARS virus (which is similar to Cov-2, which causes Covid-19).
