Emmanuel Armah is Care Home Manager at Bridge Haven.
Bridge Haven's manager is a highly experience care professional with Level 5 and Level 6 qualifications in Leadership and Management and Health and Social Care. He also holds a Diploma in Social Work in Community Care, bringing a broad understanding of care delivery, community support, and individual needs. As a multilingual professional, he is able to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. With extensive experience in the sector, he is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and person-centred environment for residents. He works closely with staff, residents, families, and external professionals to maintain high standards of care, dignity, and wellbeing across the home.
Bridge Haven Care Centre has a rural setting in the village of Bridge, close to the city of Canterbury in Kent. It provides care and support for older people living with dementia and strives to give them a new and exciting quality of life during their time at the home.
Avante’s Philosophy of Care is The Eden Alternative which is based on the core belief that ageing should be a continued stage of development and growth, rather than a period of decline. In a culture that typically views aging as a period of decline, the Eden Alternative philosophy asserts that no matter how old we are or what challenges we live with, life is about continuing to grow. The Eden Alternative seeks to cure loneliness, not with medication, but by providing residents with companionship and surrounding them with life. It seeks to cure helplessness by assistance with existing skills and interests; the opportunity to learn new ones and by encouraging residents to feel engaged and useful in their community.
Avante Care and Support understands the importance of a good environment for residents living with dementia and provides a safe, warm and friendly environment with support for daily living.
Recent refurbishment has provided two new beautifully designed suites and many of the rooms have patio doors leading out to the secure gardens surrounding the home. There are also a number of open plan lounges and dining areas with a style and view to suit everyone.
Bridge Haven provides a respite care service, allowing a crucial break for carers, for just a few hours or for several weeks. This offers family carers the chance to go on holiday or simply have some well-earned time off.

Residents can join in with a daily programme of activities throughout the home. Activities are also based on individual interests and personalities. Our own minibus provides the opportunity for day trips out to the many local places of interest. Studies show that implementation of the Eden Alternative is a powerful tool for improving quality of life and quality of care for those living in care homes. Also, homes that have adopted Eden as an organisational-wide philosophy have found that there is improved staff satisfaction and retention and significant decreases in use of medication. |
