Meet The Manager

Lisa Houghton is The Home Manager at Bramley Court Care Home.

Lisa Houghton joined the Bramley family as Home Manager in 2017. As a registered nurse she brought with her a wealth of experience and understanding of residential and dementia care.

Lisa first trained as a nurse over 30 years ago and began her career at Papworth Hospital, where she met her husband, Mark. They married two years later and went on to have two children.

Throughout her career Lisa has worked in Community Nursing, which she adored, then Oncology and Research Nursing before going on to work as a Practice Sister in a local GP surgery. In her first job as Deputy Manager, Lisa successfully made the home fully compliant within just two months, after which she moved to a new role in St Ives, where she quickly progressed to Home Manager.

Description

At the heart of the Outstanding-rated care we provide at Bramley Court in Histon is our compassionate team formed of nurses, carers, managers and team leaders and members of our wider support team such as catering, housekeeping, lifestyles and front of house.

Lead by our amazing home manager Lisa, all of our team members are carefully chosen for their values and unwavering dedication to caring for our residents with tenderness, kindness and respect. We nurture and invest in them – ensuring they feel valued, happy, and love being part of the ‘Bramley Family’.

Our focus on creating a wonderful home in which to live and work means we are able to retain the very best team members, and ensure we value the contribution they make, each and every day.

This, in turn, helps us to provide consistency for residents and exceptional care, through people who value the same things we do, receive ongoing training, support and recognition and are skilled and confident – understanding each individual resident, who they are and what they need to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

This compassionate approach is also extended to people looking for care for a loved one, as well as our residents’ families, helping and supporting them through what can be a very emotional time.

Activities Are So Important

Our residents’ ongoing health and wellbeing is extremely important to us and we recognise that keeping active, both mentally and physically, whilst maintaining a sense of purpose and meaning are key to individuals’ happiness, contentment and joy.

In partnership with our residents and those closest to them, our dedicated lifestyle team, working across all of our home’s communities, develops a varied programme of meaningful activities, events and celebrations which are personalised to individuals’ likes, dislikes, abilities and care needs as well as aspirations and dreams for the future.

Our whole team supports our residents to rekindle interests and hobbies, whilst also gently encouraging them to try new things they might enjoy, either as part of a group of friends, on a 1-2-1 basis and in their own room, if they prefer.
