Meet The Manager

Andy Kirby is Oak Lodge Manager at Oak Lodge Care Home.

Andy's ethos is fairly straightforward, to make every resident and their loved ones feel they are receiving the best possible care, and couldn’t live anywhere better.  “It’s always about good communication and teamwork”, says Andy, “making sure every member of staff knows the residents really well, so everyone feels they are among friends. It’s also really important that the staff how much they are valued, both by the management team, their colleagues”. Andy feels that getting the views of the residents is invaluable, and tries to see every resident, every day, so he knows everyone is happy and comfortable. He is always delighted to speak to family members, especially if they have any ideas on how to improve the residents’ lives in any way. “It’s a team effort, and the families and friends know them really well, so they tend to give us ideas which we wouldn’t have otherwise thought of”.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are following the advise of National and Local authorities including Public Health England and our local Infection Control and Prevention team.

All necessary protective equipment will be supplied and visitors may be asked to complete Lateral Flow tests.

Visits will be by appointment only. The Home's team will inform you about what arrangements are in place to keep you, our residents and team members as safe as possible.

Should there be positive cases of COVID in the Home, then visits will not be permitted.

Team members and residents are being tested as per the latest guidelines.

Many thanks for your patience.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Activities Are So Important

Variety is the spice of life, whatever your age. We want our residents to have the opportunity to explore a huge range of hobbies and activities in their new home.

Our homes offer a wide range of imaginative and inclusive activities. So, whether that’s pottering in the garden, being creative in our arts and crafts sessions, cooking and baking, enjoying a sherry after a walk in the grounds or watching a movie in the cinema with new friends, there’s something for everyone.

Our home has a dedicated activities coordinator on hand to create a social calendar filled with fun and engaging activities, and not only for our residents – friends and family are more than welcome to join in too.

As active members of the local community, we welcome a variety of visitors to our homes to share their enthusiasm, knowledge and experiences with our residents. This ranges from local historians, visits from local school children and even musical bands. Many of our homes have their own minibus, enabling residents to take trips to the shops, places they’ve long enjoyed visiting or to explore new destinations.
