Meet The Manager

Kim Thompson is Registered Manager at Heather Grange.

Heather Grange provides residential, dementia and short-stay care for up to 70 residents in a spacious, purpose-built home in Burnley, Lancashire.

Set in peaceful surroundings with views of Pendle Hill and just a short distance from shops, cafés and local parks, the home combines countryside calm with easy access to town amenities. Arranged over two floors, Heather Grange features four small households, each with its own lounge, kitchenette and dining area.

The landscaped gardens include water features, raised beds, patios and a bar area, with plenty of space to relax, socialise or join gardening projects. Residents can personalise their own outdoor areas, and seasonal events like summer BBQs are popular with families.

Meals are freshly prepared using local produce, with menu choices shaped by residents. Favourites include cheese and onion pie, fish and chips, and themed dishes from around the world. Treats from the in-house coffee shop and personalised birthday meals add a special touch.

Activities include craft groups, music therapy, flower arranging, cinema screenings and visits to the on-site Burnley Bar. Seize the Day outings and dementia-friendly experiences, including lifelike robotic pets, support joy and connection at every stage.

At Heather Grange, care isn’t just about support, it’s about creating a community where residents thrive. Whether you’re searching for yourself or a loved one, for residential, dementia or short-stay care, the team at Heather Grange are here to help.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

Activities are a major part of what we have to offer here. Our passionate Activity Coordinators keep you active and entertained with a fun-packed calendar, making a real difference to your wellbeing. Each day starts with the ‘Daily Sparkle’ and morning coffee. Activities include: singing and music sessions, bingo, dominos, quizzes, art and crafts, daily exercise sessions, movie afternoons, church services, and personal support from our Chaplain.

The first Wednesday of the month is a big social evening with a cabaret, quiz and a pie and peas supper – relatives and friends are invited of course.

We have our own minibus and regularly go out on trips to the countryside, seaside visits to Blackpool or Morecambe, an afternoon at the garden centre, or just out for an ice-cream or fish and chips.  We also regularly join the local dementia café. You let us know what you want to do, and we do our best to make it happen for you. And we love any excuse to put on a themed event.

We are committed to providing alternative therapies such as music therapy to help alleviate isolation and the symptoms for those living with dementia. Our trained therapist is funded by charitable donations.

They interact with residents through live music therapy sessions. This includes singing, playing simple percussion instruments or responding to musical cues in a one-to-one or group setting.

We’re proud to be supported by a dedicated Chaplain at Heather Grange, who offers pastoral support to all, whatever their beliefs. The Chaplain provides a listening presence, companionship and one-to-one pastoral support for all residents, their friends and relatives, and staff members - irrespective of their beliefs - and organise worship for those who wish to participate.
