Description

Our well-trained staff are what make Bartley Green Lodge truly special, enriching the lives of our residents. The open-door culture and dedication to ‘going above and beyond’ ripple down from the experienced management team we have in place. Home Manager Leanne has over 18 years’ experience in the care sector, with nearly 14 of those special years being with Sanctuary Care. While her deputy Kelly Thompson has over 10 years in the care sector under her belt. Together they bring expertise and genuine passion.

And our loved ones agree. A daughter of a resident left the following comments on care home review website carehome.co.uk: “The team cannot do enough to help with care, queries and questions – nothing is too much trouble.”

Our dedicated team, which provides residential care, dementia care and pre-bookable respite care, support our residents as if they were members of their own family. They also like to do their bit for the local community. We recently baked sweet treats to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, as dementia is something so close to all our hearts.

The team works hard to make sure our loved ones feel as connected as possible to the home. We want them to feel empowered to have their say about the way we do things. Welcoming their valuable feedback we host regular relative and resident meetings, as well as anonymous surveys. And more importantly, when they visit mum or dad, we want them to know they are visiting their parents’ home, rather than seeing Bartley Green Lodge as just a care home.

Activities Are So Important

Delivering fulfilling person-centred and group activities is extremely important for our residents. They have so much to enjoy – including animal therapy. Not only do we have our own kitten, we have a special dog who visits us daily. Lady, a Yorkshire terrier, always enjoys a fuss and a cuddle.

Spending time with animals has so many benefits for our residents’ wellbeing, especially those living with dementia. It’s a truly calming activity that is wonderful for those who once had pets of their own.

Other four-legged friends that are a firm fixture in our care home’s activities calendar include kittens and cats from Well Cat, a local sanctuary in Birmingham. The residents really enjoy providing comfort to the kittens until they find their forever home. It gives them a real sense of purpose.

We regularly welcome musicians from across Bartley Green and Birmingham into the home. Performing shows and music from across the eras, you will often find us dressing up and dancing the afternoon away. Our residential care residents particularly love these performances, which are a real highlight in their social calendar. They love to teach us a move or two and often sing at the top of their voices!

And talking of activities that our residents adore, we also welcome local school children from across Bartley Green. As soon as the children arrive a buzz fills the home. The youngsters love to make truly fabulous memories with our residents. From baking, arts and crafts and even gardening – it’s a magical sight to see them together.

However, all the fun and games do not stay within these four walls. It’s so important that our residents continue to stay connected to Birmingham and the wider area. That’s why you will see us taking part in day trips throughout the year, including visits to the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley, garden centres, local shops and even schools.
