We offer the very best in quality nursing care, security and support in a friendly environment. We comprise of 84 single rooms over 3 Units; ensuite facilities are available. Each room is well equipped and furnished to the recommended standard.

Throughout the home there are communal areas designed to promote social interaction and quiet areas where private time can be spent with visitors.

Lifts serve the second floor accommodation and ramps are provided for wheelchair access.

A programme of refurbishment and high standards of hygiene ensure a pleasant, clean environment. The home is committed to a strict infection prevention charter and provides facilities and equipment to reduce the spread of infection.

Atholl House is audited annually to ensure that all aspects of infection prevention meet legislative recommendations.

Atholl House comprises of 84 single rooms over 3 floors; en-suite facilities are available. Each room is well equipped and furnished according to the recommended standards. Residents that are admitted to the home for both long and short-term care are welcome to personalize their rooms subject to health and safety regulations.

There are adapted bathrooms and toilet facilities to meet the needs of people with physical disabilities.

Individual preferences are that basis of life at Atholl House and residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms if they wish.

Staffing

Management:

Atholl House Medical Nursing Home has two Managers;

• Registered General Nurse Manager

• General Manager

Managers take time to get to know all the residents. Walks around the home are completed to ensure high standards of care are occurring, and that residents’ needs are maintained.

Families may speak to the Managers at any time.

Care Staff:

Atholl provides a well-qualified care team who have considerate personalities along with knowledge, experience, and skills.

All care staff at Atholl have obtained an NVQ Level 2 or above in care. Along with this staff receive appropriate training to meet the needs of residents.

Mandatory annual updates ensure there are safe practices, as well as regular supervisions to ensure development/training is ongoing.

Employed staff are DBS checked prior to employment.

Philosophy of Care

Each resident has a Personal Care Plan that not only identifies medical needs, but also includes details such as personal likes and dislikes and how residents prefer to be addressed.

Care plans are based on individual assessments which involve the resident and their family and are formally reviewed and updated regularly.

• To provide quality care respecting privacy, dignity and independence.

• To ensure people receive quality End of Life care that encompasses their physical, psychological and spiritual needs.

Service Provision
Atholl house is registered with the Care Quality Commission and has the duty to comply with the new Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.

Each new person entering the home has a full assessment prior to admission to ensure that their specific needs can be met. On admission comprehensive risk assessment are documented to ensure that any areas of vulnerability are identified and addressed. People entering Atholl House have the right to choose what risks they wish to take; we offer advice but respect their autonomy.

We encourage both people and relatives/carers to have an active input to the individual plan of care and welcome their views and contribution to the person centred planning process.

We are committed to high standards of End of Life Care and with the use of recognised Care Pathways and incorporating the Gold Standards Framework we follow best practice guidelines.
