Meet The Manager

Lisa Hughes is Care Home Manager at Ardenlea Grove Care Home.

I have previously worked in hospitals all over the UK - across A&E, medical and surgical wards. I started working in care homes during nurse training and loved working in a homely environment where you build relationships as it's like your extended family.

I enjoy working here because of the residents, my team and the ability to make a difference to a family.

I am married with two children. In my spare time, I love watching rugby, going to the gym and being creative. I love the outdoors! Surfing, skiing and climbing are a huge passion for me.

Ardenlea Grove welcomes those with a range of care needs including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, whether for long or short stays or for respite care.

We think it’s important to know our residents well so we can deliver truly personalised care. By spending time listening to residents and their families, we learn about their lives, interests, and the really important things, like how they like their tea.

Residents can relax in one of our lounges or spend some quiet time in our safe, enclosed garden. The choice is always theirs.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

There’s no typical day at Ardenlea Grove, but we arrange plenty to do, both here at the home as well as out and about.

The activities coordinator plans activities to suit everyone’s interests and capabilities. There are regular quizzes and games, a reading group and gentle exercise classes.

We have special events that take place in the home on a regular basis, as well as themed days like St Patrick’s day. The home is decorated to match the theme.

We get visits from local school children who come into the home to sing, dance and talk to residents at special times such as Harvest and Christmas.
