Claudia Ramsamy is Home Manager at Willows Care Home.
After successfully managing Mayflower Care Home in Gravesend, Claudia has returned to Willows Care Home in Romford, where she spent many years earlier in her career building strong relationships with residents, families, and colleagues.
Claudia first became Home Manager at the start of the pandemic, showing remarkable leadership, dedication, and compassion during an exceptionally challenging time. Her outstanding work in maintaining high standards of care and infection control was recognised nationally when she received the Social Care Covid Hero Award at the East of England Great British Care Awards in 2020.
Now back at Willows, Claudia brings her wealth of experience and passion for person-centred care, continuing to lead her team in providing the highest standard of support to every resident.
Willows Care Home is a modern, purpose-built home in a residential area of Romford, offering advanced facilities while maintaining a warm, homely atmosphere. The welcoming reception sets the tone for the bright, airy environment throughout.
The home has 72 spacious en-suite bedrooms across three floors, all comfortably furnished and fully wheelchair accessible. Each floor also features its own dining room and lounge, providing inviting spaces for meals, activities and socialising.
Nursing and care staff are available 24/7 on every floor, supported by dedicated teams covering catering, activities, administration, housekeeping and cleaning.
Willows offers more than high-quality care. Wellbeing managers run a varied programme of creative, musical and fitness activities, along with regular outings. A relaxing on-site hair salon provides hair and beauty treatments, and menus are nutritious and varied to support a true home-from-home feel.
The large landscaped garden is fully wheelchair accessible, with plenty of seating for residents and visitors. In fine weather, the popular “garden café” serves tea and fresh pastries.
Residents’ views matter greatly to us, and we take them into account in the day-to-day running of the home.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. | Activities Are So Important |
|---|
|
We have an active social life in our home with plenty of opportunities to make new friends and participate in a variety of interesting activities and day trips. This is important because an active life can help to keep you more alert, mobile and happier, with better health and wellbeing overall. Our activities co-ordinators create a monthly programme of activities ranging from entertainments such as visiting singers and film matinees, to painting and crafts, baking, gardening, quizzes and yoga. If your preferred hobby isn’t on the list, we can help you to continue with it. Even if you find moving about difficult, it is still important to get as much exercise as possible, so we also organise gentle exercise sessions, to help keep you mobile. Family and friends are welcome to join in with activities, and we also organise special events (like our annual summer fête, for example) to which we invite your family, friends and local community groups. If you like to get out and about, we can arrange for someone to go shopping with you and the activities team also arranges group trips and meals out. Or it might be that you simply want to read, watch TV or listen to the radio in the quiet of your own room. Or someone to sit with you and read the paper, talk about things that are important to you, or help you keep in touch with your loved ones via post, email or Skype. Whatever you prefer, the choice is yours. |
