Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

The health, safety and well-being of residents, visitors and team members is paramount, and we can assure you that your priorities regarding safety, care, cleanliness, and enjoyment are ours too. We take this responsibility very seriously and as such, we have implemented robust infection control measures in line with Government and Public Health England and Public Health Wales advice to ensure the safety of everyone who lives and works within our homes. These measures include: Wearing PPE, Regular testing and temperature checking, Social distancing, Enhanced cleaning, COVID-19 training

We are pleased to report that NHS healthcare professionals are now vaccinating residents and team members at all of our homes.  We are keeping residents and relatives updated with our progress. The Covid-19 vaccination rollout programme is being driven by the local health boards in Wales and by GPs in England.  Timings vary from area to area, dependent on when NHS healthcare professionals receive a supply of vaccines and how many doses they receive in each delivery.   However, we are in regular contact with the health boards and our local GP surgeries for updates and are working closely with them to ensure everyone has the opportunity to be vaccinated safely and as soon as possible.  With two doses of the vaccine being needed for immunisation to be fully effective, we do not expect to make changes to the measures in place at our homes until after the second dose has been delivered.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Infection Screening We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

At our care home in Rugby, Warwickshire, residents are supported to live an active and fulfilled life. Our relationship-centred care enables residents to keep on doing the things they’ve always loved – the things they perhaps thought they could no longer enjoy. So as part of our community, they’ll be able to cook, help out in the garden and carry on with the kind of everyday routines which make their lives theirs.

Our facilities allow residents to carry on enjoying the everyday routines they cherish, including picking up the morning paper at the home’s colourful ‘Corner Shop’, having their weekly hair and nail appointment at the luxurious salon, or catching up with friends in the vibrant cafe. Those residents that wish to do their own laundry can also use the resident’s laundry room, which is designed to encourage active and independent living. Our dining rooms also have open kitchen areas to enable residents to help with the preparation of meals if they wish to.

Our dementia community is designed specifically to enhance the quality of life for residents, offering stability, reassurance and familiarity. Features include its own vibrant ‘Tea for Two Café’ with a traditional, interactive kitchen area and a large terrace overlooking the gardens, a hair salon, laundry room, community room and ‘Emporium’ shop; all of which provide vital destination points for residents living with dementia.
