At Porthaven, each of our homes provides a safe, supportive and homely environment dedicated to the care of those living with us. Some of our residents will require additional care to others, and our staff are trained to manage a very wide range of specialised requirements. Given the complex nature of many types of ailment, symptoms often vary with each individual and it is by understanding this that we are able to provide the very best support to those who live with us. From the moment you make an enquiry at a Porthaven care home, we begin to build a comprehensive picture of your loved one including life history, family, likes and dislikes, hobbies and social preferences. This helps us understand each resident on a personal level and this is the unique foundation of our individualised care plans. When you decide the time is right to move your loved one into a Porthaven care home, our trained nursing staff will carry out a pre-admission assessment. This gives us essential information on each resident’s medical needs. We may also approach GP’s and other healthcare professionals who have previously been involved in care planning for your loved one. All of this information is used to develop a care plan that is as individual as the person we are caring for, supporting them to live happy and fulfilled lives where they are encouraged and enabled to continue living with dignity and independence. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
Our Leisure and Wellness Coordinators work closely with residents to provide a programme of leisure and wellness activity choices and events seven days a week. Home life is a priority at Porthaven, and every resident receives a person-centred approach and an individual exercise programme tailored to their needs and personal goals. Every Porthaven home has a dedicated ‘Leisure and Wellness Room’ and a daily programme for enjoying wellness activities, including Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, iPad sessions, music, art and pet therapies, socials and clubs, inter-home bowling matches, art history, wine tasting and casino nights – to name but a few. In some of our homes, we also have gyms with specialist equipment for older people, and cinemas or cafés, all present to enhance leisure and wellness choices. With so many well-being activities for body and mind, we also recognise that everyone needs some time to honour their spirit with relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection, and our unique leisure and wellness programme incorporates opportunities for this. If you would like to find out more about our innovative and inspirational indoor activities, please call any of our homes and arrange for a visit at your convenience.
