Danielle Henderson is the registered manager of Whitebeach. Danielle is supported by Vanessa Jardine the Deputy Manager. Danielle has worked for Coast Care for over ten years, she is passionate about providing the highest standards of Dementia Care.

Established in 2013, Whitebeach is a 39 bed home that specialises in moderate, advancing dementia. Whitebeach is located in St Leonards On Sea, close to the beautiful and accessible seafront. The building itself is Edwardian and located in a Decimus Burton conservation area. All of our homely bedrooms have en-suite facilities and some larger bedrooms are perfectly suited to couples.

As part of our progressive approach to Dementia Care, Whitebeach boasts its own Hairdressers Salon. Many of the home's corridors are decorated to represent streets and all our residents' bedroom doors are decorated as front doors.  This has been proven to reduce anxiety for service users and helps our residents to continue enjoying a sense of independence in a residential setting.

There is a lovely dining room, where fresh, home-cooked meals are served daily. Whitebeach has the added benefit of a large day room leading out onto a decked area with ramps down to a wonderful sensory garden. The home has a quiet lounge for relaxing.

We provide 24-hour care for all our ladies and gentlemen, focusing on the varied and diverse needs of each individual service user. We want all our residents to lead a full and happy life, receiving exceptional care whilst maintaining the highest level of independence possible. Friends and family are always welcome to visit the home and we believe time spent with our loved ones can be a tonic for us all. As well as encouraging regular visits, we are proud of our progressive Person Centred Software which gives permitted family and friends access to photos and live updates via a family relative portal.

Our Building and Facilities

The Whitebeach can accommodate 39 residents. All of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities, and some are perfectly suited to couples, due to their proportions. They are individually decorated and all have a bright outlook. There are two living areas, one of which is our large newly extended day centre, along with a coffee bar where drinks and snacks can be made. The day centre opens out onto a large decking area over looking the extensive gardens, through double bi-fold doors. The garden has recently been re-modelled and landscaped to create a beautiful sensory garden with stimulating colours smells and running water. The dining room is partitioned in the middle to create a more personal dining experience. There is a lift to all floors, and a wide ramp at the front of the property for ease of access.

The Importance Of Meal Times

We provide good quality, home-cooked food that complements our homely, caring environment. Our meals are consistently made with fresh, local produce,  ensuring high-quality, balanced delicious meals.  Our chefs cater for many varied diets, including soft and diabetic.  We don't follow a strict menu, preferring to allow our chefs to be creative and cook with seasonal ingredients. All of the kitchen team spend time on the floor with our residents getting to know their likes and dislikes and building relationships.  They work with the activity team, particularly when we plan 'Arm Chair Travel', cooking dishes from all over the world for residents to enjoy

Activities Are So Important

At Coast Care we believe that activities and outcomes are essential in ensuring a high quality of life for all of our services users. 

Our activity team is a huge asset to Whitebeach, this was recognised nationally in 2020 when our Executive of Activities, Outcomes and Placements Poppy Bellchambers was a finalist in the Care Activities Co-Ordinator/Facilitator category at the 2020 National Care Awards and also a finalist in the Great British Care Awards.

We offer a variety of engaging activities seven days a week and are always looking for new innovative ideas to stimulate and encourage those we care for. We try to ensure all our service users experience the best possible outcomes from our activities programme by getting to know individuals' preferences from the moment they join us, aiming to cater for everyone's needs and interests.

  • Various arts and crafts (including regular visits from Creative Minds)
  • Quizzes
  • Games
  • Pampering sessions
  • Music therapy
  • Gardening
  • Pet therapy (some residents have their own pets)
  • Flower arranging

  • Household chores (help with preparing supper or polishing shoes)

We also have a bus trip from each home two/three times every week, these range from a trip to the local supermarket or the seafront to a full day out. We are also very proud of our holiday home at Combe Haven holiday park. Not only can residents and families spend the night here but we can use the parks facilities, shows, swimming, arcades, bowling etc.
