Meet The Manager

Richard Pindani is General Manager at Tennyson Wharf.

To introduce myself, I have been working in the care industry since 2004 and I have worked in the housekeeping team, kitchen and as a carer and senior carer before working my way to work in management. I therefore have a very good understanding of every aspect of the care home and this allows me to manage a home more effectively. Since 2004 I have completed a Masters degree while working as a Commissioning Support Manager. My career history in care is varied with a lot of my work involving working with struggling homes to bring them back to Good CQC and full occupancy. I also have spent time working as a regional director supporting three homes to develop their standard of care.

I feel passionately about providing outstanding care for our residents as well as engaging activities for a great quality of life. My door is always open, you are always welcome to come and see me to provide feedback or just to have a chat and a cup of coffee.

Richard Pindani

Located opposite the beautiful Burton Waters Marina, Tennyson Wharf offers stunning views of the boats and yachts on show, as well as the Lincolnshire countryside. Alongside this, we also offer respite care, which you can pre-book up to a year in advance. Our team of qualified and dedicated staff focus on the individual needs of those we support and are committed to providing professional and respectful care, with residents at the heart of everything we do.

The home has a dedicated Memory Lane Community, built specifically for people living with various stages of dementia. Within the community, memory boxes with small reminders and items, such as photographs, are used to help each person reminisce. Design features, including adapted crockery and tableware, sensory gardens with low-risk walkways and activity kitchens also enable people to engage in life’s everyday simple tasks and pleasures. We are also proud to be accredited as part of Barchester’s 10-60-06 Dementia Care programme, which recognises the improved quality of life residents here experience.

Our high standards are reflected throughout the home with our luxurious facilities, delicious meals, daily activities, and selection of therapeutic approaches we have on offer. Together with our lively social calendar, our fantastic services help stimulate residents’ minds, and empower them to approach their future in a positive way.

For more information on this beautiful purpose-built care home, please give us a call and we will be more than happy to discuss how we may best meet your needs.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Food and Nutrition at our home

Our dishes here are constantly evolving, and take into account the desires of those we support, integrating seasonality into everything we prepare. Food and nutrition are at the heart of the home, so it is important that residents can enjoy a balanced diet that caters to individual dietary requirements. Whether people want to try something new and exciting, or just enjoy an old favourite, there is something for everyone on our menu. Please see below for more information:

Dietary requirements

For residents that have difficulties in swallowing we modify the menu of the day so that is it a soft, palatable dish. To support our chefs in producing these dishes, our hospitality and Chef Academy organises theory and practical workshops. Working in partnership with Nutricia, our practical workshops involve all chefs and deputy managers learning about dysphagia and producing these modified menus. The chefs work with the chef trainer to prepare fork mashable and thick puree meals to the correct consistency, taste and presentation. The deputy managers can then ensure all modified menus served are presented correctly for our residents.

Attracting top chefs

Our chefs are recruited on the basis of an interview with the regional hospitality support team and the manager for the home. Selection also involves a practical element where potential cooks are asked to cook for and meet a panel of people living in the home. Chefs take their job extremely seriously and our annual Chef competition sees our chefs battle it out in regional heats and then at a national final for the accolade of 'Barchester's Chef of the Year'.

Activities Are So Important

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
