Meet The Manager

Claudia Duarte is Manager at Sunnyside Care Home.

As the Registered Manager of Sunnyside Care Home, I am privileged to lead a dedicated team of healthcare professionals who share a common goal: to provide the highest standards of care for our residents. With over 10 years of experience in the health and social care sector, I’m driven by a passion for improving the lives of others and fostering environments where residents feel safe, respected, and valued.

I work closely with my team to ensure we comply with CQC standards while continuously improving the quality of care we provide. I’m also deeply committed to the development of our staff, as I believe that motivated and well-supported teams deliver the best possible care to those who need it most.

As a registered care manager, I am constantly working to ensure that our home not only meets but exceeds the standards of care expected by residents and their families.

Claudia Duarte

Awarded Care home of the year in 2019, Sunnyside Residential Home is a charming home that is spacious and ideal for residents with a wide range of care needs, staffed by a qualified team who respect all individuals involved and are welcoming to visitors.

Sunnyside’s main objective is for its residents to live their lives as independently as possible and be treated with the dignity, respect and compassion that meets their individual wishes, needs and capacities. The home prides itself on providing complete peace of mind when it comes to care, comfort and happiness.

Alongside professional care for older people, residents are encouraged to live an active lifestyle and pursuit personal interests. The home benefits from a quiet garden with a fish-pond as well as regular in-house events and visiting entertainers.

The home also provides respite and convalescence packages, all carried out with respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals, and with support for a healthy community integration.

In 2017, Sunnyside Residential Home received the coveted award from carehome.co.uk recognising it as one of the top 20 Care Homes in South West England.

Activities Are So Important

At Sunnyside we offer a wide range of activities designed to encourage residents to keep mobile and most importantly an interest in life. Activities are organised by staff for e.g. draughts, bingo, cards, quizzes, exercise activities, coffee morning in town.

We also have musician that visits the home twice yearly putting on a show. At the rear of building there is a courtyard with a central pond feature, chicken coop, flower beds and a herb garden which are maintained by residents & staff. We also have a Christmas party, summer barbeque and other events.

Sunnyside makes every effort to enable service users to attend religious services. A regular multi-denomination service is held at the home and offers holy communion if required. Service users can attend any service of their choice outside the home and transport can often be arranged for this.

Arrangements can also be made for all faiths to have pastoral visits within the home or to attend services outside.
