Yvonne Sands is Manager at Summerville House.

Yvonne joined ArmsCare in April 2009 as a part time night carer at Docking House, 6 months later she became a Senior Carer. In 2012 Yvonne transferred to Summerville House where she became the assistant manager. Following this, in 2015 Yvonne became Manager at Norfolk Lodge, after which in 2018, Yvonne moved back to manage Summerville House. 

Yvonne has always nurtured excellent relationships with her residents, their families and all her team. Yvonne is married she has two children and four grandsons one who often visits the home and entertains the residents.

Directly outside our home, residents can enjoy the simple pleasure of watching horses, Shetland ponies, and even the occasional donkey in the nearby field—a daily joy that adds to the warm and homely atmosphere.

Summerville House has been thoughtfully designed to combine comfort, accessibility, and a truly welcoming atmosphere for everyone who lives here. Our beautifully decorated lounge is a lively, air-conditioned space where residents can come together to watch a favourite show, enjoy a good film, or simply relax in good company.

The dining room is the heart of our home — a warm, sociable space where residents share delicious meals, laughter, and conversation. It overlooks our charming sensory garden, which is perfect for soaking up the sunshine, tending to flowers, or enjoying the fresh air with friends and visiting family.

Our home is set over two floors, with a lift and stair chair providing easy access for those with limited mobility. Bathrooms have been newly renovated in a fresh, modern style, designed with safety, comfort, and accessibility in mind for everyone.

To make life even more convenient, we arrange regular visits from trusted professionals, including a hairdresser, chiropodist, optician, and dentist, so residents can receive essential services without needing to leave the home.

All of our rooms are thoughtfully designed with comfort, privacy, and independence in mind. Every room features  a comfortable bed, and wardrobe space for personal belongings a specialist chair, offering residents a cosy spot to relax, enjoy a quiet moment, or simply unwind in the privacy of their own space.

Residents are encouraged to make their space their own with cherished photographs, ornaments, or other personal touches. A television can be provided on request, or residents are welcome to bring their own.

At Summerville House, life is full of opportunities to enjoy new experiences, revisit favourite pastimes, and make happy memories. Our dedicated Activity Coordinator creates a varied programme of events, both inside and outside the home, ensuring there’s always something to look forward to.

Within the home, residents can enjoy pampering sessions, arts & crafts, games, musical performances, and visits from special guests – including singers, musicians, friendly ponies, alpacas, and even exotic animals through ZooLab. 

We also host lively celebrations for Easter, VE Day, Halloween, and our much-loved summer and Christmas parties, where families are warmly invited to join the fun.When residents fancy a change of scenery, we’re perfectly placed for a gentle stroll to the local shop, a visit to the park, or even a relaxed afternoon at the pub.
