Lisa Wright is Home Manager at The Spinney Care Home.
Over 13 years ago, Lisa was interviewed on a Radio 4 programme, designed to show people the potential of being able to build a rewarding career in the care sector. Shortly after, she joined a care home as a carer and never looked back.
Since then, Lisa has gained a wealth of experience in care homes, whilst also spending time in a nursing care home setting building valuable skills and knowledge. However, her passion has always been for residential care and supporting people to build and retain as much independence as possible.
In 2018 she joined our Spinney family as a senior carer before being promoted to our deputy manager in 2021.
Lisa said: “The Spinney is my second home and I love spending time with our amazing residents, their loved ones and our dedicated team. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than knowing we are making a positive difference to the lives of each person we support and care for - managing our home is truly an honour.”
At The Spinney Care Home, we provide award-winning residential and residential dementia care with dignity and compassion.
Our skilled and experienced team ensures that residents live well with dementia and achieve a better quality of life by receiving exceptional levels of personalised care, stimulation and social interaction that improves overall wellbeing.
The Spinney is a comfortable and welcoming home with facilities that support choice and independence, and enables families to enjoy quality time together. It features en-suite bedrooms, spacious lounges, a bustling bistro and sunny conservatory - a favourite spot for our cat, Ruby. As well as a large, mature garden that is the perfect, tranquil space for reflection throughout the seasons.
With a focus on making life meaningful every day, we encourage our residents to try new activities and rediscover former hobbies; including music and movement sessions, arts and crafts, animal therapy, and reminiscence projects. Connections with the local community are well-established, with regular minibus excursions to local places of interest, make a wish initiative, and visits from entertainers and school children.
Soothing lighting, sound therapy, fragrant aromatherapy, and comforting hand massages, also give residents the opportunity to experience deep relaxation as part of a small group or in the comfort of their own bedroom, during Namaste Care sessions.
We are proud to be a part of the UK’s Top 20 Mid-sized Care Group 2026, as rated by carehome.co.uk. Other accolades include the Dignity in Care award for the London region of the Great British Care Awards 2023 and winner in Trusted Care’s Top 5 Care Home Gardens in the UK.
Our team receives on-going training, professional development and guidance to deliver the exceptional care that residents deserve. Families know their loved ones are being cared for by a trusted and reputable team, who work together with our residents’ best interests at heart.
