Rusthall Lodge is a well-established, ‘not-for-profit’ care home situated close to Tunbridge Wells. We are a successful stand-alone care home that has been in operation for over 50 years. The home enjoys an excellent reputation for providing quality care. Our aim is to always preserve the self-respect of those who depend upon the support of others in an atmosphere of dignity, respect and trust.

At Rusthall Lodge we react positively and sympathetically to the varying needs of our residents, and every detail is designed with those needs in mind. We recognise that delivering outstanding care and service is a given and should not be seen as a benefit or luxury.

We are dedicated to making a better day for you every day and aligning our care and services to your individual needs.

Our vision is to provide excellent care and support, to continuously improve the quality of our services; to make people’s lives better, every day and to make a difference, not a surplus.

Our Charitable ethos determines that the majority of surplus funds from the Lodge are re-invested for the benefit of our residents and staff; ensuring they have a safe and caring Home to live in and a well-equipped and safe setting to work in. As a Registered Society under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014 - 17413R, this reinvestment of funds into the fabric and daily life at Rusthall Lodge helps us provide a unique Home in the care market; stand-alone, not-for-profit, with a heritage that's over fifty years old.

We can only accept those living with early onset of dementia.

Our Building and Facilities

Our heritage is firmly set in the past, but our thinking and our approach to care is towards the future.

Rusthall Lodge began life as the former home of Miss Margaret Fremlin; a grand Victorian/Edwardian house that sat in beautiful grounds. In the mid-60s, the Council of Service Housing Society based in Monson Road, Tunbridge Wells identified a need to “provide for local people of limited means and in need of care and attention”.

As a result of Miss Fremlin’s generosity and the dedication and hard work and kindness of a number of other local benefactors and supporters, Rusthall Lodge opened on 1st January 1968.

Activities Are So Important

Moving into a care home is one of the most difficult decisions anybody can make and should not be a reason or time to compromise.

Our philosophy of care is to provide a holistic person-centred service that promotes Wellness, Happiness and Kindness in an environment where family and friends are encouraged to visit and spend time with you. We want your time at Rusthall Lodge to be one that is far from compromised; a life enhanced by services that help you live an active and engaging life, whatever your interests are for as long as possible.

Every week there are a wide range of engaging and exciting activities to take part in; many of which involve the residents in the design and delivery. The weekly schedule is delivered to every room and displayed throughout the home.

Our wellbeing assistants provide our residents with the opportunity to socialise and where possible, they complement one another so activities support different aspects of older people's independence and mental wellbeing, such as their physical health, their sense of belonging to a community and their sense of purpose. We also have regular trips out to local attractions.
