Meet The Manager

Joanne Rix is Care Home Manager at Rendlesham Care Centre.

As the manager of Rendlesham Care Centre I enjoy nothing more than meeting new people and listening to the stories they have to tell. Everyone is different and this should be reflected in the care they are given. I want to ensure that both the care teams and residents at Rendlesham are happy living and working here. Rendlesham is a lovely home with a real family feel created by the care team and residents that live and work here.

Keeping a close relationship with the local authorities and doctor’s surgeries is very important. We continuously improve the lives of our residents through offering wide ranging activities and events  both in and outside of the home, involving members of the local community wherever possible.

At Rendlesham Care Centre in Suffolk we provide the highest standards of residential, nursing and dementia care for up to 60 elderly residents. You can find us by Rendlesham Forest on the outskirts of the village.

Here at Rendlesham, we comprise of three self-contained communities, providing different levels of care, all living in one location. This provides our residents with a real sense of a small-scale and homely living environment, with the added benefit of outstanding care facilities. As a resident’s care needs change, we are equipped to meet those needs ensuring that elderly residents are able to remain within the community they have become an integral part of.

Our dementia care provision has been designed to meet standards of the University of Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre, which is renowned as the world leader in the field.

Rendlesham Care Centre has an outstanding team of highly skilled and passionate support staff. As the manager, I have a qualified nursing background and lead the professional care team in providing the highest standards of tailored care.

Our care centre is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including: Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsakoff’s syndrome.

Our award-winning care offers a full range of residential, nursing and specialist dementia support, including trial stays, short-stay breaks and convalescence.

The home is fully registered with the Care Quality Commission and has Hospitality Assured accreditation.

Rendlesham Care Centre is home to our residents and we never lose sight of that. The environment is light and spacious with a welcoming atmosphere and relaxing ambience that is carried through everything we do on a daily basis. A highlight of the home is its ‘Forget Me Not’ garden, which was specially designed to provide a safe and stimulating environment for elderly residents living with dementia.

Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field and its best-practice approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise disorientation.

Sitting on the edge of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Rendlesham is perfectly positioned for access to the coast, Ipswich and the quiet of the medieval market towns of Saxmundham and Wickham Market. The Suffolk area is known for its wealth of historical sites including Sutton Hoo, Framlingham Castle, Ickworth House and St. Edmonsbury Cathedral.

We operate an open visiting policy, where friends and family may visit at convenient times.
