Meet The Manager

Lindsay Taylor-Savidge is Manager at Albion Lodge Retirement Home.

Hello, I’m Lindsay,

I’ve been passionate about providing care for over 20 years and have been part of the team at Albion Lodge Retirement Home since 2016.

I believe we should care for others as we would our own family. This aligns with the values of the Darwent family and is one reason I love working in a family-run home. Our supportive environment and long-standing staff create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where nothing is too much trouble.

Albion Lodge offers comfort, care, and independence in a beautiful countryside setting. We have accessible gardens, a hair salon, treatment rooms, and an exercise room.

We offer a range of ensuite rooms across three lift-accessible floors, most with wet rooms and all with lovely views. Each floor also has an accessible bath for a safe and relaxing experience.

We warmly invite you to visit and see what makes our home so special.

Welcome to Albion Lodge Retirement Home

Albion Lodge is a family-run retirement home nestled in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside, in the picturesque village of Hanley Swan. Since opening our doors in 1985, we have remained committed to one simple philosophy: to care for our residents as we would our own family. Founded by Colin and Jean Darwent to provide care for their parents and ten other residents, Albion Lodge has grown over the years while staying true to its family values. Today, under the care and management of their son, Andrew Darwent, we continue to offer warm, personalised care in a friendly and supportive environment.

Our Setting and Facilities

Albion Lodge is a beautiful period property set within two acres of landscaped lawns and gardens. The home offers a peaceful village setting with access to local amenities and excellent healthcare support from the nearby Upton-upon-Severn medical practice. Residents and visitors enjoy the natural surroundings and regularly see wildlife including birds, butterflies, and deer, thanks to our wildflower meadow and wildlife-friendly features such as feeders and bug hotels.

Inside the home, all rooms are designed to offer both comfort and independence. Bedrooms are equipped with en-suite facilities (many with private bathrooms), Wi-Fi, TV points, emergency call systems, and independent telephones. We encourage residents to personalise their space with their own furniture to help create a familiar and comforting environment. Fully furnished rooms are also available for those who prefer them.

The communal areas at Albion Lodge are warm, sociable spaces where residents can relax, engage in activities, and spend time with friends and family. The ground floor features a spacious main lounge, a quiet library, and a bar lounge with daily newspapers and books. All floors are level throughout, and there are four passenger lifts on-site to ensure full disabled access to every part of the home.

We offer 24-hour care tailored to individual needs, with a strong emphasis on preserving independence and dignity. Our experienced and compassionate staff team, many of whom have been with us for several years, hold a range of qualifications and receive regular training to provide the highest standard of care. In our most recent CQC report, which rated us as GOOD, a resident described our staff as "caring and compassionate."
