Meet The Manager

Shirley Fairley is Registered Manager at Nicholas House.

“I have worked in care all my life, first in the Royal Air Force where I trained as a State Enrolled Nurse. After leaving the R.A.F. I started working in elderly care and enjoyed it so much I have been doing it ever since. I worked my way up from carer to Manager over the years and have been a manager since 1999. This is the third home I have managed. I have my level 4 in Management and a Registered Managers award. Nicholas House is a lovely home to work in, it is relaxed and welcoming and I have a staff team that work very hard to ensure our Residents are happy and well cared for by caring, motivated staff.”

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We follow governement guidlines . I attend the BCA clincal leaders network which is attended by PHE, CCG and LA to get the most upto date information.  We have offered taxis to staff who may use public transport.  All staff and residents and relatives are updated of any changes in policy and procedure.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Air Filtration & Purification We are using air filtration and/or air purification devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.

Safe Visiting Space

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
