Vicky Cruxton is Home Manager at Knowle Gate Care Home.
Welcome to our Solihull Care Home
Knowle Gate Care Home lies a couple of miles east of Solihull in the West Midlands, close to the picturesque village of Knowle and the M42. Our purpose-built building has a pleasant garden and terraces overlooking the green fields of the Sihillians Sports Club. There are three floors, one of which is dedicated entirely to providing the best dementia care in Solihull.
Staff at Knowle Gate are keen to provide the best holistic care for residents, enabling them to follow as fulfilled lives as possible. Changing one’s way of life in senior years can be stressful, and every effort is made to make the transition as effortless as it can be, offering peace of mind to all concerned.
At our home, we warmly welcome couples or companions who want to continue their care journey together. Residents have their own spacious rooms with en-suite showers and as many of their personal belongings as they can fit in. Precious and significant mementoes and photos often prove valuable and interesting talking points. Some residents choose to spend time in their own rooms, others prefer to socialise in the bistro cum café or the garden; it’s up to them. But coffee mornings tend to be very popular with everyone.
The bistro leads on to a hair and beauty salon, TV and computer areas and an upstairs cinema room, though there is always a cosy nook to be found, where residents can sit quietly away from noise and screens.
Our success can be measured by the number of ‘alumni’– relatives of former residents — who still like to visit us and see what is going on. If you would like to be kept abreast of events at Knowle Gate Care Home in Solihull look no further than our dedicated Facebook page. Or alternatively come in and see for yourself. Please contact our friendly care manager and we will be pleased to arrange a visit to our residential, nursing and dementia care home in Solihull.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. | Activities Are So Important |

We like our residents to remember the past at the same time as keeping up with the present. You can find them admiring a Shire horse, watching sport on the telly or even Skyping a grandchild who lives far away. Age is no barrier to learning new tricks! We keep bodies active too with yoga classes, keep-fit exercise classes and morning walks round the grounds. Our veranda on the first floor provides an excellent grandstand view of the rugby games at the Sihillians Sports Club. Our resident who tickles the ivories is very popular with his companions, who need no encouragement to join in with the old-time songs he plays. Professional entertainers come in to sing as well, we arrange church services on a Sunday, and firework nights and barbecues brighten up the evenings. Our Wellbeing Coordinators at Knowle Gate Care Home are always busy dreaming up new ways of keeping everyone engaged. We are very active in the surrounding Solihull community and our bus can often be seen on excursions out and about across the West Midlands or simply down the road at one of Knowle’s fine pubs. |
