Meet The Manager

Karen Theobold is Home Manager at High Broom Care Home.

With 25 years of experience in the care industry — 23 of those proudly dedicated to High Broom Care Home,  I am a passionate and motivated leader committed to putting residents at the heart of everything I do. I hold both the Registered Manager's Award and a NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification, and under my leadership, High Broom achieved an Outstanding CQC rating — a reflection of our dedication to excellence.

At High Broom, I lead a team of genuinely passionate caregivers who are not only committed to delivering exceptional care but also to their own professional development. We ensure our staff receive regular, up-to-date training so families can feel confident that their loved ones are receiving the highest standard of care and compassionate companionship. I am approachable, supportive, and always striving to develop both myself and my team to uphold our values and deliver care we can all be proud of.

High Broom Care Home is a residential and respite care home for older people, located in the peaceful town of Crowborough, East Sussex. Rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission, we are proud to offer high standards of care in a warm and welcoming environment.

Our home is set in a beautiful, character-filled building with spacious, well-appointed rooms designed for comfort and relaxation. Surrounded by 32 acres of landscaped gardens, residents can enjoy the peace and beauty of the countryside, with plenty of private spaces to sit, stroll, and unwind.

We believe in providing personalised care that supports each resident’s independence, dignity, and wellbeing. Our experienced and friendly team takes the time to get to know each individual, ensuring that care is tailored to their needs and preferences. We are always looking for ways to enhance our environment and stay up to date with the latest developments. Whether it is through new features, training, or fresh ideas, we believe in continuously learning and growing to offer the very best experience for our residents. The recent installation of AI powered Nobi Lights designed to help prevent falls and enhance resident safety, reflects our ongoing commitment to innovation and and continuous improvement.

At High Broom, we focus on making every resident feel truly at home where they feel safe, valued, and connected. Through a variety of engaging activities that that spark interest, freshly prepared meals made with care, and strong partnerships with local healthcare professionals, we strive to make every day meaningful and enjoyable.
