Angela Roughton is Home Manager at Glenmoor House Care Home.
Hello, my name is Angela, and I am delighted to be the Home Manager here at Glenmoor House
I have 35 years of experience within the healthcare sector and have achieved qualifications such as Registered General Nurse. Working in residential and nursing settings, my previous roles were as a Nurse, Clinical Lead and Deputy Manager, where I have gained plenty of experience and valuable skills that help me to succeed today.
Within this time, I have shared many treasurable moments with the residents I have had the pleasure to meet. Seeing my residents smile each day gives me the motivation to perform at the highest level.
I would best describe myself as a very committed Home Manager, cheerful and caring, which is reflected in the environment we create here. In my spare time, I love to go on holidays, gardening and I am also an avid reader. So don’t be surprised if you catch me in our library!
I look forward to welcoming you to our home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Description |

We work hard to settle all our residents into home life as we appreciate that this can sometimes be a challenge. Our staff are experienced at making everyone feel as though they are in a home where residents are valued, their lives celebrated and memories shared. Our approach is holistic, catering for mind, body and soul and taking advantage of modern and technological resources to achieve this aim. We use the reminiscence magazine the Daily Sparkle to trigger memories and set communication going. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
When the weather is fine we enjoy our games sessions in the garden – we have our own versions of tennis, darts and netball. Residents may not be up to same standard as in their youth, but all exercise is good and keeps people young. We go to the nearby Autumn Centre for Chair Exercise too. Some of us may even have taken up a few tips from the belly dancer who came to entertain us recently. Our enthusiastic Activity Coordinators keep everyone busy and if not exercising, perhaps playing musical bingo, having a manicure or a massage or doing a quiz – Do you know why KitKat wrappers were blue in the last war? We believe that being involved with the local community is an important part of a fulfilled life. We have long standing relations with local schools and St Ninian’s church. Children from the nearby Rockingham Primary School come and visit and always bring a smile to our faces. We like to get out and about too and our minibus means we can go on regular outings, including trips to the theatre, the Autumn Centre, West Glebe Park or just for a relaxing meal in the pub. Family and friends can always keep in touch with what is going on through our Facebook page, which includes recordings of some of our favourite activities as well as regular updates of upcoming events. |
