Celebrating Residents Lives at Glenmoor House Care Home

Glenmoor House Care Home is located on Rockingham Road in Corby, it is a long-established residential home and is proud to serve the elderly within Corby and Kettering. At our care home in Corby, we provide a complete range of care from nursing through to residential and specialist dementia care, whilst also offering short-term respite care. Our respite care service is ideal for carers who require time off, or for those who are keen to sample what full-time care home life would be like.

Couples and companions are warmly welcomed in our home where their well-being, comfort, and happiness are our top priority.

We work hard to ensure that all residents settle into home life as smoothly as possible, as we appreciate that this can sometimes be an emotionally challenging time. Our caring staff are experienced in making sure everyone feels as though they are in a home where residents lives are valued, and memories are shared. Our approach is holistic, catering for mind, body and soul – taking advantage of modern technological resources to achieve this aim. There is Wi-Fi throughout the home, which is free to all.

Residents are encouraged to decorate their rooms as they please with personal belongings, as we have found that familiar things make settling into a new environment easier for all. Bedrooms are spacious and light, and come complete with walk-in showers and flat-screen TVs. Most residents at Glenmoor House Care Home find company in the cheerful lounges, but there are always quiet spots for cosy chats or for relaxing.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are confident that our care homes are now some of the very safest places to live and work.

All of our staff have been trained in additional and heightened cleansing protocols and hygiene regimes, and these are being supported by a leading sanitisation system as part of our comprehensive infection controls. Testing regimes will continue for staff, residents and visitors.

We have re-aligned the resident in-house services to meet social distance guidance from the Government, for areas such as lounges and dining rooms, and for visiting entertainers and hair dressers; we are working hard to restore these services within the ‘new normal’ circumstances as soon as we can, when lockdown rules allow.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.

Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

Avery Healthcare has invested in outdoor garden ‘visitor pods’

The pods, are a garden room specifically designed to facilitate safe face-to-face contact with relatives and visitors. Each pod contains a floor to ceiling partition screen and a hands-free intercom so that communication is clear and safe for use. They are fitted with internal electrics and two, low-surface temperature electric panel heaters – suitable for these winter months.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Activities Are So Important

When the weather is fine we enjoy our games sessions in the garden – we have our own versions of tennis, darts and netball. Residents may not be up to same standard as in their youth, but all exercise is good and keeps people young. We go to the nearby Autumn Centre for Chair Exercise too. Some of us may even have taken up a few tips from the belly dancer who came to entertain us recently.

Our enthusiastic Activity Coordinators keep everyone busy and if not exercising, perhaps playing musical bingo, having a manicure or a massage or doing a quiz – Do you know why KitKat wrappers were blue in the last war?

We believe that being involved with the local community is an important part of a fulfilled life. We have long standing relations with local schools and St Ninian’s church. Children from the nearby Rockingham Primary School come and visit and always bring a smile to our faces. We like to get out and about too and our minibus means we can go on regular outings, including trips to the theatre, the Autumn Centre, West Glebe Park or just for a relaxing meal in the pub.

Family and friends can always keep in touch with what is going on through our Facebook page, which includes recordings of some of our favourite activities as well as regular updates of upcoming events.
